Go Green! Go HIMYM! Go Movies!

That’s it. I swear, I think I’m going to migrate from this country (already at 88%!) if the weather does not cooperate and adjust to normal settings (well even if it weren’t like the old, at least the weather could act NORMAL and NOT GO LOCO!). I may sound like a brat but the constant variation of the climate from SCORCHING HOT to thunderstorms is too much. I think we’re all going to get sick sooner or later because of this. As I plan to turn this blog into something personal and productive, I’m going to list down tips I got from this site that could help prevent climate change. Sorry for making this grave topic the top paragraph of the post. It’s the most important thing on my mind now. The state of the earth.

Easy Things You Can Do To Help Our Climate:

  1. TIP: Travel light. Walk or bike instead of driving a car. Cars and trucks run on fossil fuels, which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. In the United States, automobiles produce over 20 percent of total carbon emissions. Walk or bike and you’ll save one pound of carbon for every mile you travel.

    2. Tiff’s say: YES PEEPZ! Crash the car of your bestfriend now or carpool with your barkada or just… walk a few meters to your fave store. It definitely helps.

  2. TIP: Teleconference instead of flying. For office meetings, if you can telephone or videoconference, you will save time, money, and carbon emissions. Airplanes pump carbon emissions high into the atmosphere, producing 12 percent of transportation sector emissions.

    3. Tiff’s say: Well I don’t have the money to fly anymore so I don’t think that this is a prob… haha!

  3. TIP: See the light. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs. These energy-efficient bulbs help fight climate change because they reduce the amount of fossil fuels that utilities burn. You will save 100 pounds of carbon for each incandescent bulb that you replace with a compact fluorescent, over the life of the bulb.

    4. Tiff’s say: Yup! Already telling the ‘rents to buy one! Seriously, turn off lights when not in use. Plug off all electronics too!

  4. TIP: Recycle and use recycled products. Products made from recycled paper, glass, metal and plastic reduce carbon emissions because they use less energy to manufacture than products made from completely new materials. For instance, you’ll save two pounds of carbon for every 20 glass bottles that you recycle. Recycling paper also saves trees and lets them continue to reduce climate change naturally as they remain in the forest, where they remove carbon from the atmosphere.

    5. Tiff’s say: Yap! Don’t forget to share your blessings and also give stock items to charity. Really helps. Adidas is also having this promo called the Wanted: Old Shoes campaign where you can get a discount of P1,000.00 off on new adidas shoes bringing your old branded shoes to any participating Adidas store (I think all of them participate). They will be donated to Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Education. Click the poster for more info. Only up till May 17 (that’s this week! Man, adidas should be lucky for this promo. hahaa)



    TIP: Inflate your tires. If you own a car, it will get better gas mileage when the tires are fully inflated, so it will burn less gas and emit less carbon. Check your automobile monthly to ensure that the tires are fully inflated. Follow this tip and save 300 pounds of carbon dioxide for every 10,000 miles you drive.

  5. TIP: Plant native trees. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air and use it as their energy source, producing oxygen for us to breathe. A tree in the temperate zone — found between the tropics and the polar circles—can remove and store 700 to 7,000 pounds of carbon over its lifetime. A tree that shades a house can reduce the energy required to run the air conditioner and save an additional 200 to 2,000 pounds of carbon over its lifetime.

  6. TIP: Turn down the heat. Heating and air conditioning draw more than half of the energy that a home uses in the United States. Turn down the heat or air conditioning when you leave the house or go to bed. You can easily install a programmable thermostat that can save up money and carbon.

    7. Tiff says: This is one of the hardest thing to do for me since it’s blazing hot here. I’m trying my best and i’m persuading mum to do the same.

  7. TIP: Buy renewable energy. Electricity generation produces 40 percent of carbon emissions from the United States. A growing number of utilities generate electricity from renewable energy sources with solar panels, windmills and other technologies. If your utility offers renewable energy, buy it. If not, send them a message asking for clean energy.

    8. Tiff says: Righty-o. Do we have this technology in the Phils? We have right? Hope we do!

  8. TIP: Act globally, eat locally. If you shop at a supermarket, the food you buy may travel in a plane from the other side of the world, burning fossil fuels the entire trip. Shop at a local farmers’ markets and you will find fresh and healthy food, and help save our climate.

Neil Patrick Harris really embodies this amusing “disturbed” playboy that the geniuses a.k.a creators of the show have made. Who here watches the series? Don’t you just love it? Even F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fans are disbanding and joining the HIMYM fandom just because Barney is in the show. But I what I love really are all the characters (not just Barney) and their CRAZZYY quotes. It’s just too hilarious! I just don’t like the prepostrous “mother” concept because how would the kids not even know the name of their own mother? Is it because she’s dead? hmm… I want it to be Robin! haha lolz :D The network actually has a BARNEY’S BLOG! GO CLICKY! haha :D It’s just not that  updated though :(


How I Met Your Mother

Now I have to continue watching Ugly Betty, House M.D., and hopefully my next fandoms, The Big Bang Theory and Chuck! Am not a drama-ey person (actually I can be a bit dramatic hehe) so no Gossip Girl or Telenovelas for me. :p

I’ve added some new plugins by the way! Finally found the randomizing links plugin and comment pluggers! Remember visitors page is UP *well some of it anyways, haha*, About Page is also up, and Contact form too! Oh and this is GOOD NEWS for me! I’m finally going to watch a concert featuring an AMERICAN IDOL! Yes folks, you’ve got it right! I’m going to the 2 Davids concert with some of my good friends at SM MoA (Shoe Mart Mall Of Asia)! I’m really excited since I’m a big fan of these two (their CDs turned out GREAT! haha) and I can’t wait to see how they react in concert. Haha. I haven’t been this excited since Maroon 5 concert! haha. Here’s an ad but notice the marketing fail.

I’m such a movie nut and I would watch ANY movie as long as it has good reviews from my favorite movie sites *I’ve added a Panda favorites category for my fave links! Pls check them out! I’ll be adding more though :D hehe* and my fave blog critic Mark Kermode *he doesn’t have a blog unfortunately, only a YOUTUBE VIDEOBLOG! WHOOT!* so I went in to watch Star Trek without any background on its characters and plot. Well I only knew that they had a guy with pointy ears and that there’s a Captain Kirk and Spock. Well what did I think about the movie? It’s absolutely……………………

Find out in the next episode of Tiff K! :D haha I’ll leave a cliffhanger here just for fun. Haahaa! Oh yeah, I’ll be adding a new section in the About Me page. It’s gonna be the movies that I’ve downloaded/watched since last year! I thought of keeping a .doc file of it because I wanted to keep track of all the movies I’ve downloaded.   3. Meh – the climate and the world is 60% down the road to destruction and pure insanity already and therefore I refuse to co-operate until America and China do. :D I did participate in Earth Hour 2009 and 2008 though. Did you?

    “Turn down the heat”?! No way – I like a warm house cos I feel the cold extremely easily and in England it isn’t exactly warm 24/7… :( I do all the others though without even paying attention. :D
    I haven’t seen that film… how good is it? Also, do you watch Desperate Housewives or Oprah? If you say ‘no’ to one of those then I will probably scream and have a bitch fit. :P

    I was considering making a vLog… just depends when I have the time to actually sit and film and then edit and then upload. UGH! Why does it have to be soooo complicated? :( (lol)

  9. I totally agree with doing something for the climate! I’m 18, which means I can get a driver’s license here in finland, but I decided not to – I live in the centre of Helsinki, and I don’t need a car to get around. I’ve been using public transpront, specially trams and trains, since I was born – our family only used our car for long trips, not trips to school or so. If I ever move somewhere where the public transport isn’t as good I’ll probably get a car, but that’s then, not now! I recycle biowaste from “normal” waste as well and try to save up on water & electricity.

  13. Great tips! I like to think I’m an advocate for the GREEN movement too. When I get my own place, I’m going to only use “green” products and save up money to install solar energy panels. I’m glad we have the technology we have today and it’s fast rate of coming out with new innovations because it would make renewable energy a lot more efficient and affordable in the near future.
