First of all….*this will be a SUPER RANDOM POST*

LIZA gets to be in the TOP SPOT!

Why? Well she was able to answer my question in such meticulous detail that I was simply amazed at how a Guacamole is made!

“It originated in Mexico through my ancestors, the Aztecs, and is basically a dip created from avocados with added tomatoes, lemon juice, and onions. It’s very similar to a ‘pico de gallo’, which is a condiment minus the avocado and added cilantro/chili peppers. A lot of traditional Mexican households still use a molcajete (small bowl and grind-up stone) to make it.”

Bravo! Liza has really enlightened me because I really have no idea what Guacamole is… even though I do sometimes say “Holy Guacamole!” haha so thanks dear! A confused panda, I am NO MORE!

I was drenched a while in the sudden THUNDERSTORM because I mistakenly brought my SMALL pink-frilly-lacy umbrella (dad bought it XD) and I had bad timing for commuting. After rifle shooting training, I took a long look out of the range and said, “HOLY GUACAMOLE, THOSE ARE STRONG WINDS THERE. And ISN’T THAT A BRANCH?” Okay I was kidding about the branch part but the winds were so strong that power was cut off in some parts of MY COLLEGE. I was then forced to take a tricycle (i usually walk to the LRT – light rail transit) and fetch my stranded friend at some far point of college and then to the usual stop for tricycles near LRT. But this kind driver decided to drive us instead directly to the entrance of LRT because of the floods that prevented us from walking sanely. He agreed to the price of just 1$ to take us there and it was already a bargain! Tricycles were also prohibited from the main road so he actually took a risk for us! HE GIVES ME HOPE! *will post this story to GMH and hopefully they accept it* Have faith in the world, there are still kind people!

I’ve also wanted to blog about food for a long time because my category Delectable Delicacies seems to be really lonely. So here’s to those who want to read it!

MY LAST DISH ON THIS EARTH ▼

I actually eat ANYTHING. Except mushrooms, abalone, and century eggs. Yeah anything so this is reason why I’m in this state. (boohoo, i’m changing slowly though! haha) So it’s really hard for me to choose a favorite dish. I love Korean, Mediterranean, good old burgers, Filipino, Chinese etc cuisines but the ultimate favorite dish? It has got to be the Filipino dish, Sinigang!

My uncle once asked us, if you were to die today, what would you eat? I was prepared to say ANYTHING again but then thought carefully. I wanted this last experience to be meaningful, to be scrumptious and forever lasting. Then I remember the feeling I get every time I eat Sinigang. There was always that warm and contented feeling.

Sinigang is a sour broth that can be a mixture of Shrimp(Sinigang na Hipon), Milkfish (Sinigang na Bangus), Beef (Sinigang na Baka) and Pork (Sinigang na Baboy) and my favorite is definitely the pork. I believe that it is a mixture of heaven because its a complete meal (well balanced meal! – Go, Grow, and Glow foods are there) and the sourness of the soup combines well with the taste of rice and pork. The vegetables also lessen the tastiness of the sour but it adds something else to the whole concoction. I don’t know if my international friends have some different version of this broth, but I swear, this Filipino dish is WORTH eating! A recipe is included for those who care to experiment :P *INGREDIENTS AND MORE INFO HERE*

* Boil sampalok in water until the shell shows cracks. Let cool then peal off the shells and with a strainer, pour samplalok (including water) into a bowl. Gently massage the sampalok meat off the seeds, strain again.
* In a pot, sauté garlic and onion then add the tomatoes. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
* Add pork and fish sauce then add the rice wash. Bring to a boil then simmer for 15 minutes then add the gabi. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes or until the pork is tender.
* Add the horse radish and simmer for 10 minutes then add the string beans, kangkong and sili (for spice-optional). Let boil for 2 minutes.
* Serve piping hot.

Pouring the soup on the rice is the best part of the meal! hahaaa Care to share what’s your fave dish?

Good luck sa contest… I love sinigang I often asked papa to cook sinigang na hipon. I dont eat mushrooms and the onion garlic and all that kahit hiwain mo fine makikita ko un haha.

>> yes, I was prematurely born about 2 pounds that time and I dont have sex organ at that time weeks later it developed they first thought Im a boy. they named me Juan Miguel jr named after my dad. then when they found out am a girl they changed it to maria micaela and all the doctors said I dont have any chance of survival when they saw me survived the first 24 hours they said I will ever survived the first 30 days they will give me 80% chance of survival on the 30th day I suffered internal bledding as i was so tiny one of the tech at our hospital tranfuse blood from my body using injection it took him hours to do it, as i was diagnosed with ashma , pneumonia and a lot more good thing that we own a hpospital in the province and that lola just came from the usa and have those tiny needles thats not yet available in the philippines that time and made me survived. and for all those nurses in the hospital who manually monitored my temp as they dont know how to use the incubator they use light bulb and hot water and they monitor it every minute and that they look after me 24/hours. and they bathe with alcohol until time that i was 2years old they are about to bring me to dumaguete when mommy (lola) saw mother teresa of calcuta at the airport and approached her and asked if she could blessed me because for 2 years i was really sick. Mother teresa blessed me and from that day on my ashtma, pneumonia and lot more disappaerad. When i graduated in kindergarten Papa sent mother teresa a picture of me stating taht i was the kid she blessed at the airport then mother teresa wrote us back she drew a hand and a baby on the palm and theres a phrase there i forgot the exact word and at back of that she wrote something for me and my parents laminated that later and have 2 copies of those one was place at my dad’s house at the altar and the other was at the altar of moms house in the gradparents house i mean. when mommy on the dad side got sick i think it was a stone in the kidney she just place the letter on her tummy and she was healed. I dont have the copy with me but when i got the chance to ask mommy to send me photocopy of it. I’ll show it to u.

I’ve heard of sinigang because my sis-in-law is Filipino, but never ate it. Since I grew up not eating a lot of veggies, sinigang doesn’t look too tasty right now. :P

2. What’s the last dish you’d wanna eat on earth?: Any of my mom’s cooking for sure.

Man, the Black Eyed Peas audience is WILD! I love how they synchronize in their motion, looks very cool. 1. Do you have a moment where you experienced kindness from a stranger? Hmmm…I think I did. I can’t remember. Oh wait! It did happen a couple of days ago when I was in this mini market thing. I was heading for the toilets, and there were two female toilets. I tried opening one, and before I break the knob (lol), this guy on the phone stopped me and told me that the other bathroom was available. I smiled and went in. It was weird. I dunno if it’s considered kind. But hey..
2. What’s the last dish you’d wanna eat on earth? Hmmm…I love lots of food. Lots and lots. It’d probably be that delicious sweet & spicy chicken dish from the Chinese take-out place. Lol.

Yah, MUSE totally rock! The LP feature isn’t something you can get with all albums. It is only with certain albums which you buy from the iTunes Store. If you buy Muse’s new album or MIKA’s new album from the iTunes Store then you shall see it in its lovely sexyness. Hell yeah, majorly cool.

A pink frilly lacy umbrella sounds absolutely adorable! I have one with a bit lace but it’s kinda sturdy and not very frilly.

I’ve experienced kindness from strangers online and real life. But in real life, it’s kinda awkward, especially if they’re older. There’s really no dish I wouldn’t try so I don’t know the last dish I’d eat on earth. The flash dance is AWESOME! Are they only one person? The last vid was funny! Haha! Yeah, I’m a Buddhist, but not the same kind as East Asians and Vietnamese people. My Buddhism is Theravada Buddhism (read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theravada). As you can see from the article, there ARE certain groups in China that practices Theravada and the Khmer Krom in Vietnam (Khmer Krom are NOT Vietnamese, they are ethnic Cambodians who were in Vietnam before there was even a Vietnam!).

I’m not a buddhist because… uh… I live in a Catholic country hahaa. I was baptized you see and my parents are also baptized Catholics here. I’m more inclined to Christianity too. :P But it’s because my great grandparents moved from China to the Philippines because of the terrible condition there back then. So there I think that’s it…
