I can’t think… seriously. I woke up today thinking that I’d write my entry that I’d prepared over the whole week because a lot of things happened. Little did I know that I would wake up to a CITY SUBMERGED IN WATER.

Unlike the past BIG STORMS, we didn’t get the message for this one. Sure PAG-ASA (Weather bureau of the Philippines) did warn us that Typhoon ‘Ondoy’ was coming but they didn’t give the RED ALERT unlike for Bagyong Milenyo (Storm of the Millenium) but they should have still made a BIGGER WARNING. If you’ve been reading my plurks and tweets, you’d FEEL the alarm and almost panicky tone that I’m projecting. During Bagyong Milenyo, the WINDS WERE CRAZY. Trees were uprooted, branches and debris were flying everywhere. But now for Ondoy…. I GIVE YOU PICTURES.

Steven has been asking me what a storm looks like here and here they are… except this is probably one of the WORST STORMS here. Gosh.. As I type this now, the rain has still not stopped for more than 12 hours now. :( What a frigging rainy day. I was even joking about this rain a while ago with my friends who were stranded at school (YES, THEY WENT TO SCHOOL this morning!) and about cannibalism and such. People were sharing pictures of this and that and now that most people are probably stranded on the roads now, I’m really worried and I hope they do get home! My closest blockmate has still not replied to me… I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE SAFE WHEREVER YOU ARE!! I will pray for you guys! Will plurk/tweet for some rescue updates and such.

    Let me know if ever you are going to orlando Im just 2.5 hours away anytime I can go and visit there. The last time I went there they are still constructing the simpsons park and now they have the harry potter and a lot more addition to the park. when I first went to the universal in orlando we headed to the jurasic park lmao I dint really know that they are going to drop us down 25meters worst thing is before they drop you they gonna stop in the beginnig for a few seconds then drop you. lols. I dont have any idea at first that theres a drop and so then we just toured around. maganda dun sis and also sa bush gardens an hour away from orlando maganda din dun as in I’ll tour you when you can come and visit.

  5. the typhoon that hits luzon brought so much pain in the people . it been so traumatic ! wish the typhoons stops for awhile cos thers 2 typhoon left and gonna hit the 3 stars .

  6. i was also stranded in santolan lrt station last saturday. my friends and i planned to just walk but the flood was too high and im not sure if we could manage to go home with the heavy rain. good thing our professors went there. and told us that we can sleep in our school.

  8. That looks really bad. I hope all your family, friends and close ones are safe and the storm will be over soon.

    I actually like having storms mainly because Singapore is such a hot country. It’s peaceful hearing the sound of the wind, however that is definitely not the case now. I’ll be praying that all of them are safe and sound.

    it’s really shocking…
    Thank goodness to those countries who donated some help,
    hope that our govt is really goin to help th0se families, esp those who
    live in squatters area, I am sure they’re suffering=(

    those pictures are pretty nuts, tiff. i`ve never ever been in a flooded area before, only seen it on the news, so have no idea what it feels like. gosh i cant imagine what it must be like to be one of those people who lost everything in a flood…

  12. i feel so sad about this really. im lucky enough that i am safe where i am. My mama, papa and 3 siblings are very safe in Davao but my youngest brother is in Manila somewhere in Malate. I still cant contact him. I just pray that he’s safe.

  15. wait, ateneo QC ka pala sis, i thought sa ateneo, manila ka.. I’m kinda surprise coz your school is just near to my place… akala ko marikina lang ang binaha, pati pala katipunan sis?! grabe noh?! ngayon lang ako nakapag update sa mga news kasi two days kami walang electricity due to floods nga kaylangan i-cut ng meralco.

    And last Sunday nagdonate na kami ng mga damit para sa mga biktima ni ondoys dito sa place namin.

    i feel so sad sa mga victims ni ondoy, lalo na yong mga kababayan ko here sa marikina, as in super nakakaawa sila.. lalo na yong mga hindi nakaligtas :( i just hope this would be the last time it gonna happen to us.. we all learned our lessons.. hope next time mas lalo pang maging aware and handa ang ating government para next time hindi na maraming buhay ang mawawala pa. my heart goes to all the victims of this typhoon.

    I thanked God coz hindi kami masyado naapektuhan ng baha kahit na super near lang namin sa mga affected areas…

    anyway, i hope all your friends are safe sis..

I don’t think I saw it on the news yet, but my God, I hope everyone is okay. =( Look at all those pictures…the flood from the rain covers the cars until their rooftops! *GASPS!!* =O And the videos…I know I shouldn’t be laughing, but the van that’s floating on the water looks a little funny. =P

  22. Grabe talaga yung bagyo Tiff, ndi ko nga akalain papasok siya sa house namin na almost hanggang tuhod yung taas eh to think ndi naman talaga pinapasok yung bahay namin ng baha. So it just shows how much it rained last weekend. I just hope it doesn’t happen again :s It’s scary.

    I read Mica’s blog post about that and it’s truly a miracle with what happened to her! And yes i’ve seen those commercials, truly entertaining. I’m amazed at the concept, really :)

  23. ONDOY! what can i say? i think mas worse xa kay milenyo. most of my blockmates sa los Baños.. soooper baha ang haus nila and they even texted na nagtretreading daw sila sa baha just to save some of their kagamitan.

    I really want to help them but i can’t get out sa haus. we’re soo lucky sis kasi. walang bumaha or nasugatan or something. our place is safe, soo faar soo good. walang damage (San Pablo City, Laguna)

    And sooper worried talaga q when i saw the news on the tv. grabeh. napanganga na lang aku. thought na sana makaligtas silang lahat qng pwede lang..

    my dad said “if this time, kapag nanalo ako sa lotto i will buy lots of goods, a 10 sako of rice and we will give it to them” and i was like “pa! sana lang, napaswerte naten, buo pa tayo..”

    la kami magawa today, may nakita aqng pwedeng idonate at load. so i hurriedly nagpalowd ng 150! and donated P100 peru, ndi nabawaasan ang load q. toink. sadness.

    -the typhoon was indeed devastating! i never thought that it would happened that way. much lives were stolen away. I wasnt able to see face to face, the outcome of such disaster coz a day before that tragic event, i went in Laguna. there were floods but didnt actually reached my aunt’s house…But in manila, where really my home is, most of our furnitures and appliances were submerged to mud-looking flood. super lagpas tao sa house! huhu… it saddened me knowing my mama and papa did everything they could just to save some of w/c. nagkasakit pa mama ko and couz ko. di ko na-experienced how it felt. pro based dun sa kwen2 nila…super kaawa awa…good thing my 2nd and 3rd floor kmi…kung wala…jampacked!!! kaboom na!
    -i wish i can help in some ways…super disater talaga nangyari…i hope that our kababayans will get through this very sooner.

    -i believe in miracle. kahit nga ang baby sa womb ng mother is a miracle..simply mabuhay lng ang isang fetus sa womb really amazed me..now q lng na-realize upon starting my hospital duty in nursery.

  25. Oh my God! I just stumbled across your blog via whirlwind.nu, and I simply had to comment … I can’t believe that this happened to you! I mean, I see these sorts of things all the time, on the TV, in the papers, but I’ve never heard about it from someone it was actually HAPPENING to, you know? It makes it so much more scary. :(

    What’s going to happen next? Are you okay for food and water? What about your job/school/etcetera?

    And I’m sorry, this is going to sound like a totally stupid question, but … Hey, there’s no stupid questions, right? ^^”’ Okay, so … Where does all the water go after the storm? Does it just naturally dissapate over time, or what? o.o;

    Hello there! First thanks for dropping by my blog!! I’m okay really! I’m one of the FEW LUCKY ONES who weren’t that affected. The flood was only ankle high and it was only outside our gate and on the roads but man… my friends have really got it worse :( Their houses were submerged in water, water reached up to SECOND FLOOR o_O. I just went about the city today and it was really so sad :( Mud and garbage are strewn in some places. Gates collapsed too. I spent tuesday and wednesday volunteering at my university. It was really… something to be with people and help them.

    We’re trying to prepare for the NEXT STORM THIS WEEKEND. YES THERE ARE TWO STORMS COMING. Urgh, hope you guys would pray for us! Others are trying to rebuild their homes, HUNDREDS OF CARS need repair. We have no school this whole week to concentrate on relief efforts. Man..

    The water actually took a long time to evaporate because of the humidity here in the Philippines. Ours is a tropical country and it’s hot or wet season here. Now it’s really weird because of climate change. It is the rainy season now but it’s the first time some places were hit this hard. Water from floods should naturally evaporate as long as the water vapor in the air lessens. hehe :D
