Being a Dog Whisperer
I love dogs. Yes I love all of em and I definitely love watching Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan’s show which showcases Cesar’s dog training and rehabilitation skills. He helps a lot of dog owners understand and respect their dog and solve their problems. It actually helps me a lot especially when I want to communicate and tell my dog to calm down during her active state. Since our family has taken care of dogs for over say… 16 years, I think we have a say and experience in how to take care of dogs. Whenever my friends have questions regarding their dog’s health or on how to house-train them or how to feed them, they usually ask me for questions.
One very basic problem is “my dog is too active”. Picture a dog that is so hyper that she/he bites everything in sight – yes even including the owner. What I would suggest to the owner is to take the dog obedience training. There are a lot of dog trainers in the Philippines and you can eventually have the trainer help you especially when transferring commands. Believe me it helped with our 2 wild and active golden retrievers. Now she only bites my arm occasionally
But another suggestion would be one that I learned from Cesar. You have to show that you are more “dominant” not by hitting the dog but by commanding presence and always taking be the leader of the pack. You should be calm and the dog will also be calm with you. When taking control of your dog, it’s most important to not fling your arms wildly or act wildly. I suggest you watch some of his videos on National Geographic or even on Youtube. He definitely explains it better than me.
So if you have any questions regarding dog behavior or problems, you may ask me. I’m not an expert nor am I a veterinarian or zoologist, but I can say that I have seen different kinds of dogs in my lifetime.
