Not So Lonely Night
I went to the doctor today
Something feels wrong
Something doesn’t feel right
The nurse called out to me
Welcome back Mr. Night
Are you well, are you fine?
Of course not said I
Please wait a moment she flashed a smile
It was such a pleasant smile
Like the echoes of fading starlights
You may now go in said Nurse Light
Doctor Who bid me to sit down
Oh why that long frown
Mr. Night, did something trouble you tonight?
Come come sit down all right
I fell against the plush cushions
Taking the extra time to inhale, exhale
I began:
It has been bothering me for quite a while
Ever since I heard a little wail
Down in the alley near McDay’s
Running up to see something so frail
Lying in the darkness i carried her
The most beautiful creature I ever saw
She was hurt and she was hungry
I brought the little wisp home
Gave her milk but she refused the bone
She started following me from that day on
Wherever I went, there she goes
She brought comfort to my home
Whenever I made the stars, her eyes twinkled
She licks my hands when she starts to feel hungry
And somehow I heard something inside my chest
It first came slowly at first
Like some pulsating energy
I can feel supernovas bursting inside
I wonder what is wrong with me
Then one day she left
Without a trace without a trail
she only left an imprint on my shelf
And I began to weep
Feeling this thing inside me crumble
It’s dead beat resounding in my ears
The stars were crying with me
Why did she leave?
I just wanted to know Dr. Who
What is wrong with me?
Now Dr. Who stood up and
placed his hand on my shoulder
He stared at me and removed his glasses
In his blind eyes I could see
the truth that was revealed to me
I could see something inside me
Beating with a life of its own
It was too beautiful to describe
And added a glow to everything I made
I went out of the room
Paid Dr. Who for his kindess and service
Then went back home
I was too foolish to think
that there was something wrong with me
On the other hand it showed that I was growing
To create something out of nothing
To bring life from a new-found heart
Now the stars weren’t alone
They had someone to laugh with
Someone to wish upon their fate
Someone to have hope in
I wasn’t lonely anymore
I knew that i had someone always beside me
Inside me
I knew I had a beating heart
