  downloaded - This movie is all heart and I couldn't stop crying after. Now I really can't wait to read the book. This movie is driven mostly by its story but you can't deny that it's balanced with great acting. This movie produces laughs, tears and causes people to actually reflect on the past. I actually didn't know that this was all happening in America in the 60s and I'm thankful for the lesson. It's a humbling experience to watch this movie. Oh gosh! Emma Stone did surprisingly well though because I've always thought she did the "typical" roles like the one in Easy A. I mean she has a distinct way of acting that you know it's Emma Stone, not really the character so I think here, she did well :)

  Eurofilm class - It's been a long time since I wanted to give a standing ovation to a film and I just got to do that (in my mind anyway) after watching this powerful and emotion-driven film. Don't be deceived by the slow pacing in the first few minutes of the film (i was about ready to snore away and fall asleep) and battle it through because the film redeems itself. The characters are relatable and real to the viewers. Unlike other Spanish telenovelas, the drama wasn't too intense as to turn you away but it actually drags you in. Benjamin's love for Irene is so heartfelt and Sandoval is just a funny old bloke! This movie actually questioned Kant's philosophy so much (read my post about Philosophy) that I'm gonna write that post a bit differently now. What really struck me was the "two endings" because in one minute, you feel EXTREME PITY and loneliness and desolation and in another minute, you feel the most TREMENDOUS joy for 2 characters. These conflicting emotions actually HURT my heart (okay im a bit dramatic but really, I could feel a physical hurt) because I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. It's SO DARN POWERFUL. For a director to have a made a film with so much power, I SALUTE YOU! Acting was also on spot! MAN GREAT MOVIE!

  Eurofilm class - Actually I have a hard time rating this film because my head ached after it, maybe it's because the length of the movie (170+ minutes!!) or being stuck in a conference room for that long but it doesn't mean that I didn't love the film. I loved it because it talks about a genuine film lover and his coming of age and how films affected his life. I can relate with him somehow because it's a chance to escape, a chance to learn, a chance to live out your dream. The movie could be divided into 3 parts, there's the young Toto, teenager one and 50s age one. Actually much of the 50s scenes were edited out in the US release but our professor made us watch the whole director's cut and I appreciate it even though the best and most poignant scenes were the young and teenager Toto. I LOVED the child actor Toto as he played the part so innocently and believably and without the hint of annoyance, a rarity in children these days (well for me anyway). And the best actor award dutifully goes to Toto's surrogate dad who taught him the ropes in becoming the projectionist and WHO LOVED HIM SO DEARLY. I felt his love so much and some scenes brought me to tears. The teenager Toto.... MARCO LEONARDI WAS SIMPLY DIVINE in the film! Man he looked good and his acting was on the spot. Again... sighs... *blush* hahaha! I just cannot believe how Elena's mother can disapprove him when he freaking looks like a model. This movie will endear to all movie lovers like me and it's one of the best Italian movies I've seen (Life is Beautiful is still on top) and a classic. I LOVED the kissing montage and heck I LOVE how it's so meta as we watch people watch cinema and how cinema brought friends together. IT PAINS ME TO SEE THAT FILM-VIEWING IS NOW SO SOLITARY :( Great film!

  movie - Deliriously beautiful with its complex labyrinths and paradoxes, Inception is simply a mind-boggling movie that will have you talking about it for days. Maybe a 2nd viewing or 3rd would be good. I loved how it was filmed, that zero gravity scene (or any scene with Gordon-Levitt) is AWESOME and so funny! Longest car-to-crash-in-water scene ever! But on the other hand, Memento for me was better because you cared for the characters more and are pulled in deeper. Inception is a wonderful dream withing a dream...

Tilda Swindon and the young kid and teenage kid acted with such passion and tragedy that.... you can't help but think of... the possibilities and the horrors. Not as SUPER OR SPLENDID for everyone and I think this movie isn't suitable just for anybody. Those who appreciate a beautiful slow tragic story would love it. Also those who want to check out the cinematography of this film.

  Director Almodovar LOVES disturbing topics. With movies like this and Talk To her, you can't get enough of controversial topics. This is about the madness of a man who has lost his wife and daughter and vows for revenge on the man who raped his daughter. And you know by how? Well here are the clues.... change, bloody, gender, body. It's a thrilling horror movie or thriller really with absolutely NO SCREAMS. Now would that be scarier? This reminds me to watch another movie called We Need to Talk About Kevin. Yeah I do need to watch that. This is a great film with great acting and music. Not for everybody though, really!

  Eurofilm class - 2nd time watching this and I can't help admire the quality of acting that European stars have to offer. How is it that even though you don't understand what you're hearing directly, by just reading the subtitles, you GET what they're saying, what they're feeling. Javier Bardem shines in this film without even moving! Prepare to battle with your principles as you either cheer for or condemn this quadriplegic for wanting to die.

  cinema - a lot of Pixar directors recently have transcended into live action film making and MI4 just shows how versatile Brad Bird can be. You can actually see influences of his old Pixar film (and one of my favorites!) The Incredibles) in this movie and his knack of humor just flawlessly blends into the action. The acting and the action (okay so that sandstorm bit was a bit too extreme... but the stuntwork at the Dubai Hotel WAS AMAZING!) worked together. And I don't know, I felt that this mission was indeed impossible after coming out of the theatres but nevertheless, they made it possible!

  downloaded - I wanted to see this film so much ever since I heard Saoirse was in it (she has such a haunting face and such a wonderful child) and I am interested in topics of young people who have extraordinary abilities or high intelligence. The movie did not disappoint as I was engrossed the whole time. Joe Wright is one of my favorite directors now because of how he can tell stories with just music and beautiful sequences. The musical score is just right to show the childish nature that Hanna lacked despite her still being a kid. Cate Blanchett is awesome as usual and her acting's superb! Eric Bana wasn't as annoying (I find him annoying in movies, it's just me I think :/) and Saoirse of course is incredible as Hanna. I do find that there are some plotholes and the storyline isn't too developed. I wish I knew more about the project and isn't shown by just narrating it. I do have a favorite scene there when Hanna is about to kiss, you guys have to watch it to find out!

Emilia Fox as Sylvia Brown is the strongest character for me in the film and made the most impact and the most real performance. Emma Watson is still Hermione inside the film and I am waiting for the day when she is able to break out of her mold. It's a nice film altogether.

  Eurofilm class - SERIOUSLY one of the most disturbing movies i have ever seen just because of ONE scene. I am sure that even those who watch that p word would surely be disturbed because of the crazy and graphic silent movie scene in the movie. It's crazy as hell but I do admit that this movie was beautifully shot and the acting was on spot. There were just a lot of meehh and WTF moments for me to not like it. Or maybe I'm just a conservative fool and haven't really opened my eyes to genres like this. I have to watch this a second time to find out. Because of the very disturbing theme, I would like to add a synopsis for u guys to decide whether to watch it or not. I do recommend this despite not giving this the Tiffany 4.5 or 5 stars because it is a different experience altogether Pedro Almodóvar follows his international success All About My Mother with an offbeat drama that explores the friendship of two men brought together under unusual but strangely similar circumstances. Benigno (Javier Camára) is a male nurse whose apartment overlooks a dance studio run by Katerina (Geraldine Chaplin); he often sits on his balcony and watches one of Katerina's students, Alicia (Leonor Watling), and he finds himself becoming infatuated with her. When Alicia is severely injured in an auto accident that leaves her in a coma, Benigno discovers she has been admitted to the hospital where he works, and he spends his days caring for a woman he now deeply loves but has barely met. Marco (Darío Grandinetti) is a journalist who was assigned to interview Lydia (Rosario Flores), a well-known female bullfighter whose on-the-rocks romance with another toreador, "El Niño de Valencia" (Adolfo Fernández), has made her the focus of the tabloid press.   downloaded - I watched this because Holland the director directed two of the most awesome European films I have seen to date, Europa, Europa and Olivier, Olivier! and I wanted to see how she handled The Secret Garden. I read the book when I was around 11 or so and I loved the book though I do not recall the plot that much anymore. I do remember the childlike wonder of the book but this movie adaptation gave me a different feeling. I sorta wanted to bang the head of Mary at first but I guess she was really a pompous and proud child. But in the end she did learn to cry and this transition made the difference. It wasn't as good as they say it is though but the ending was quite well made.

Good movie for those interested in pyschology :D
