I’ve always wondered what the Earth has seen through her lifetime. As the opening song of The Big Bang Theory goes

If the Earth really were 14 billion years old (CORRECTION 4 BILLION YEARS AGO, thanks Chiui!), then man, she must have seen a LOT of things. And she’s probably made a lot of things too. Whenever I just walk around along the streets of anywhere, any country, I always wonder, what lies under the ground beneath my feet? I’m sure there’s dirt, crust, bones, and who knows what living things. The Earth has risen I think as we pile concrete or other materials on top of the Earth, we tend to bury a lot of things. And yeah, maybe we can find things inside mountains and volcanoes too.

And who knows what you might find.

Probably a gold mine, maybe Atlantis, maybe your lost sock.

So I kinda did d for the first one, b and c for the 2nd one (I had to wait for the next night to find it still inside the room, I woke up with a bite mark…) and a for the third one. Well I didn’t exactly run like a sissy girl, maybe run with dignity but I was more surprised with Kitty flying past me chasing the flying cockroach rather than anything else. And I thought it was my chance to escape too! And for the bug inside the car, it disappeared once I got out of the car :/

So that’s how I open my post after a month. LOL! haha and I was hoping that it was going to be a dramatic post about graduation or job hunting, but no guys, I think bugs following me everywhere must be top news!

Haha hello again guys! But seriously I was planning a post-graduation story. I had it all figured out, I was going to make a playlist of my graduation songs and explain that but then immediately after graduation, I went to Hong Kong (after 6 years my friends!) with my blockmates and then went to the beach, Boracay (international friends, you seriously have to COME TO THE PHILIPPINES AND GO TO OUR BEACHES! PLEASE!!! especially THIS ONE!!) with my groupie and then I was all over for job applications that… I almost forgot I had a blog. Holy crap I wish I could be more concentrated on this. I’ll still go ahead and give you a recap of everything though as soon as I can! But also trying to keep my posts less than a thousand words, really I have to learn how to write less :/

It’s been amazing, the 4 year adventures in Ateneo. I felt like I died, was reborn and changed in so many ways. It’s a bit dramatic if you would say, actually maybe some who meet me would have told me I didn’t change at all. But there’s this new perspective you gain when compared to your high school self or 14 year old self. There’s definitely a change in the pattern and way of life. Problem is just living my dreams now. Finding them for that matter.

My Hong Kong and Boracay adventures will have to be written sometime this week! This is basically just an update telling you guys I’m still alive, being chased around by bugs. Also, I’m on a reading streak! On to my 12th book now! Wish me luck on reaching 50 again!

Thank you to the commenters who shared their views on religion! It really cheered me up that people do think about religion critically and that people still have faith! Watch my last post if you’re interested.

I’ve been becoming depressed after the… news about this hemorrhoids business because of the uncertainty of things, whether this cream will work or not, will I live or die, will this change me from what I am now, will I be ready for both good and bad news? It was comforting to know that I wasn’t alone and that people have experienced the same things, what scares is what the people experienced after the initial “calm” finding. After watching an incredibly underrated movie called 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt,

But afterwards, after the sobbing, the mourning and the denial, you gradually accept and become ready for anything to hit you. You look for your inspiration and you find them in the littlest things. You try to act noble and do the most honorable thing. You try to keep your act together for the sake of others and for the sake of yourself. Suddenly you had a purpose in life. Live while you can.

This weekend started with a kaleidoscopic myriad of colors, music, body movements and aroma but it all turned black and white as I again was saying goodbye to my brother for the 3rd time as he ventures off to a better land for better opportunities somewhere above the Atlantic. I cried once again as I would not hear us screaming at each other anymore for a year and laugh at how relationships work. At how you think you hate someone but after everything, you still love them to bits. I WISH HIM WELL AND ALL THE BEST! CHEERS BROTHER AND BON VOYAGE!

So yeah, the title… LOL I actually wanted to write this post because of my dream. I’ve been feeling SO GROGGY AND SLEEPY the past few days and I just want to sleep it off ALL THE TIME. I practically slept in all the car rides the past days too. Thing is I’ve been dreaming every single time and this dream stuck like a gum under a shoe. That sort of disturbing thing.

I dreamt that I had a pet hamster the SIZE of a small bean/seed/nut.

OF THE BEGINNING! *oh also the beginning of a new rebranded look of my site! Pls read my previous post on explanation THANKS!*

Sorry just wanted to twist the words a bit! But you know with the impending Mayan prediction that 2012 is gonna be our last year ever… I’ve been thinking a lot… like which planner to get. (Okay the least of all my worries but I’m a realist-optimist-ifthere’ssuchathing and in my gut feeling, the earth still has many years to come -andheckIdontwantittoendyetcoz…) Everybody has been raving about the 2012 Starbucks planner and as my brother and I’s annual Christmas tradition of collecting at least 3, we indeed were able to get 3! Maybe we might even get a 4th in January, all these thanks to the help of our friends! We gave away 2 and 1′s for my brother. Actually one was set aside for me but I didn’t find it appealing enough and I needed bigger space. I’m not really a planner person but I want to sort out my life on 2012, it’ll be a good change.

Another planner that I’ve been hearing about is the moonleaf planner. But I’m not that much of a fan of moonleaf to actually want a planner from moonleaf but I can’t deny the sleek and wonderful design.

I’m kinda like that especially with clothes. The minute I see someone who wears the same shirt as I do, I don’t wanna wear that shirt again and I might stop buying clothes from there. Just like what happened to me and Zara though I still like Zara!). Belle de jour is also out of the question since it’s too thick for me.

On other news… WE JUST GOT A NEW DOG! We wanted to preserve the lineage of our first favorite poodle, Hollywood the first (R.I.P. ), we asked for one of Pawpi’s pups. So we got little Hailey! Isn’t she adorable? The great thing about her is she isn’t too boisterous nor too timid. She’s just right (ala Goldilocks LOL)!

So I’ve done Butterbeers and such, BUT WHAT ABOUT…. BUTTERBEER CUPCAKES? My love for Harry Potter is still alive and will always be alive, so I decided to celebrate Halloween by baking my very first batch with the help of Chair! The first 6 didn’t come out that nice but the rest were like natural cupcakes! I lacked moisture and softness but they were edible and looked like cupcakes! I then tried Carrot Cupcakes on my own and I can say that my cream cheese icing was AWESOME! hahaha And they turned out better too. So here’s to MORE BAKING STUFFS!

Have I ever mentioned that I love this holiday? Haha and I took this opportune moment to herald the total revamp of my site! I’ve finally updated my rotting pages (heck my bio hasn’t been updated in 2 years!) and fixed some broken links (still open to link exchange!) and also do you notice anything? Anything different at all? Nah you probably don’t…

I didn’t think a Harry Potter Panda theme was possible but she made it all happen. So what do you think? I decided to shake things up a bit here because I thought that I needed an “identity” and I felt lost amidst all the other blogs there and I needed a look that would scream me.

SOME PERSONAL CRAP. Read on only if you want to ▼

and (the end of the world OMG haha naah) 2012 is just right around the corner. Honestly for me, 2011 hasn’t been one of my best years. I’ve always thought that Senior Year would have been awesome because of what my friends have gone through but I absolutely feel NO SENTIMENTALITY at all. :/ It’s kinda crazy but I just want 2011 to be over and done with. I may sound like a cruel person (or maybe I am…) but this is just another phase that I will get through. Maybe because 2010 has been so awesome that 2011 is left behind the shadows but I doubt that this is the case. I’ll stick to the reason that I’m just not a sentimental person.

I won’t deny that 2011 has given me a LOT OF FIRSTS. Check out my about me page coz I added a few things there! I’ve started to bake, climbed a mountain, got drunk, blacked out, first time to go to Palawan, first k… okay so a lot of things happened but I seriously can’t wait for 2012 just because I have this bubbling optimism for it. I’m finally, FINALLY going to be able to work and make a difference with my life. I think that’s the biggest step anyone can achieve. To finally be able to plant a flag and say “I DID THIS ON MY OWN AND I CAN SUPPORT MYSELF”. Well to that effect anyway. I want to help my family and myself so much and I think that this is one of the only ways to do it. And really, working entails meeting new people and creating a new life, wherever I may go to. I don’t want to divulge anything yet but I’ve been applying here and there. Let’s just see how it goes.

So my only Christmas wish this year is for everything to fall in place. Vague but it stands true for me. I don’t want any material things (okay who am I kidding, if anyone can give me Steve Jobs’ biography or the Harry Potter Page to Screen book or any of the books in my shelfari, or a book shelf, or a trip to HK, etc. I’D LOVE YOU FOREVER!) so no Christmas lists for this year. Being stable is the most important thing for me now.

In my last post, I blogged about making Butterbeers and here’s one of the recipes I’ve used (Please add whipped cream). There are actually a lot of versions online and I didn’t even get to try this flaming butterbeer (do tell me if you do!) because Schnapps are hell expensive! And so are the other ingredients.

I did get to try butterbeer latte and my friend and I loved this! Better than the Cream Soda one I think but seriously, only drink small amounts because of the buttery-ness! For those who are health conscious… I’m not sure if Butterbeer is the best bet for you

Oh! And for your Christmas movie list, please PLEASE include Les Choristes (The Chorus in French) in your list. It may seem dark and depressing at first but I assure you that you’ll have tears in your eyes. Or at least a few drops! haha! We watched this for our European film class and so far this is the most heartwarming one. Good thing for youtube, the full movie can be seen online! Watch the trailer then hit the spoiler for it

OMG OMG OMG OMG I have somebody new to fangirl about! Although I’m sure not everyone will agree with me on this but please bear with me. Or you can click close on this spoiler. haha!

Wasn’t Pierre Mohrange’s voice DIVINE? Seriously his voice is so angelic and kinda makes you want him to sing you to sleep. I researched about the film more and also the choir that went on tour after this film was released last 2003 and lo and behold, I found out that Jean-Baptiste Maunier, the actor/singer with the awesome voice who played Pierre, is just the same age as moi! 8D Well it was his birthday 2 days ago! It’s so hard to fangirl about him though because there’s hardly anything on him save for a few movies. Even his main site doesn’t look that updated. Oh well, I shall enlist the help of my expert-stalker friend and help me! hahaha! Well here’s an eye candy pic for ya’ll! 8D <3 <3 <3

Is there a Santa Claus? – a physicist view

Consider the following:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn’t (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total – 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that’s 91.8 million homes. One presumes there’s at least one good child in each.

3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75-1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc. This means that Santa’s sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man- made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second – a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.

4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that ‘flying reindeer’ (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload – not even counting the weight of the sleigh – to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison – this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance – this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth’s atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force. In conclusion – If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he’s dead now. Say what?..

Sorry if this post came out so late! I actually have a new issue in the works but I’ll go ahead and post this first. It’s most likely that you’re here because you’ve been waiting for the second installment of my experience with the most stressful travel agency I’ve encountered (please read this first if you haven’t). Well surprisingly… they were able to book everything except again, I have some complaints.

It wasn’t written in the deal but the airline that they got us was Airphil Express and it was my first time to ride with them. I was really nervous because the only domestic flights I trusted were Philippine Airlines (even if they’re always late, they are established) and Cebu Pacific so I was really apprehensive. And to think I watched this feature on National Geographic about this air-crash investigation before boarding haha! Good thing though nothing bad happened except for a few delays of a few minutes. I was asleep for most of the 1 hour and 10 minute-ride there so didn’t experience any strong turbulence unlike the one I experienced with Cebu Pacific going to Shanghai. Man THAT WAS THE WORST FLIGHT EXPERIENCE -__-. This flight didn’t me migraines at all and I commend them for that. So don’t be afraid of Airphil express Their terminal by the way is located at NAIA terminal 3. If your flight is at 7:30am, don’t be deceived that there will be a “short” line. There’ll actually be a long line when you arrive at around 5:30am but this is manageable as the long line is actually for Cebu Pacific flights. GOOD LUCK TO THEM! By 6:15am we were actually waiting at the gate and had enough time to kill. Oh and for those who booked with Ensemble, you only need the photocopy of the credit card of Joey Regis or whoever PAID Airphil thing. You don’t need their valid IDs but don’t forget to bring your valid ID too and the travel docket!

We stayed in Kookaburra Lodge finally after demanding Ensemble that this hotel was the one written on the deal so I really wanted to transfer here. It was a good decision even if the location was 10 minutes away from the main city because the people there were really so friendly and SERVICE-ORIENTED (unlike some people *COUGH COUGH*). I was texting one of the staff before we arrived because I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to attend the Underground River Tour that we booked with them (instead of Ensemble, GOOD THINKING. it’s 1,500 pesos though but I think you can get a cheaper deal if you book early) because our flight was scheduled to arrive in Puerto Prinsesa at 8:40am and the tour was at 9am. Of course I feared for the worse like our flight getting delayed and true enough it was delayed for 10 minutes. Surprise surprise when we arrived, Kookaburra arranged to have a separate van to transfer our things to the hotel and the Underground Tour van was already there waiting for us. Good thing we were able to dress properly and we immediately got on! Our tour guide Tita Nids was so nice and was very motherly to us. We were with other tourists from another hotel and Kookaburra. Oh a tip, book your tours in advance with the hotel because they need to secure permits for the Underground River tour.

I kinda forgot how many hours exactly it took from Puerto Prinsesa City to Sabang where the Underground River was (it was 8 kilometers long under a mountain! we were able to travel only 1.2km though as the rest of the river can only be traveled when you’re a researcher). I think it was around 2-3 hours of a joyous ride because of the remnants of the “Abortion Road” (when the road to Sabang wasn’t developed and when pregnant women can’t travel there XD). Because there were foreign tourists, conversation was very lively and interesting as we got to know that they were traveling around the world and Tita Nids was also sharing her stories and explaining the different cities in Palawan. My friends and I bought sun hats too which were perfect for the occasion as it was really so hot and sunny that day! We then had lunch at this coastal restaurants where Badjaos (people native there) were selling their handmade accessories. They were really cheap too but DON’T FORGET to bargain! haha! And be careful because usually a swarm of sellers will surround you O_O You have to be assertive when you don’t want to buy at all. I was able to buy some though WARNING TO FOREIGNERS, please make sure that they are selling you the right price.

Tips: PLEASE WEAR JACKET OR PUT PLASTIC AROUND YER BAGS Droplets of water and maybe some guano (aka batpoo) will fall on top of you. Helmets are provided so don’t worry about your crown. Also spray INSECT-REPELLENT coz there are little insects buzzing around. If you’re lucky, you might get a glimpse of a swimming monitor lizard, LOVED IT! We were able to see one at the entrance of the cave. Also if you want to hold the spotlight (it’s POSITIVELY DARK INSIDE THE UNDERGROUND RIVER), sit up front but again, you will attract lotsa little critters. The bats I found out are SUPER CUTE! They’re not vicious at all but tiny little darlings Also get RENE as your boat guide. One of the corniest/funniest man I’ve ever heard/met. Seriously he’s really funny.

Overall, the Underground River was a lovely 40 minute experience. Those afraid of the dark though, this experience would be quite scary…

Day 2 begins! Now I was really worried about our tour that came with Ensemble, the Honday Bay Island Hopping tour. I was reassured a bit when Joey Regis, their ACCLAIMED CEO (I was wondering though, WHY THE HELL IS THE CEO THE ONE UPDATING OUR TOURS? WTF?), suddenly called me and reminded me of our tour at 9am. It said though in their travel docket that we were supposed to be picked up at 730am. I wondered what the hell happened but I told him okay. I also asked for the contact number of our guide and got it anyway. I asked Kookaburra’s staff about our tour and they honestly can’t give me any answers coz Ensemble really is the only one who knows about it. SO PLEASE, WHOEVER GOT ENSEMBLE’S DEALS, PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK WITH THEM ALL THE TIME COZ YOUR HOTEL WON’T KNOW EITHER. And I actually asked Tita Nids about Ensemble and they have been hearing horrible things too especially this story about Ensemble ruining a couple’s honeymoon because they booked them at wrong times and they could only go on the City tour which they had to book themselves. Really frustrated couple. SHEESH. Ensemble MUST LEARN.

So we got up and had breakfast at 8am and surprisingly, the guide arrived before 9am and we were able to go with a couple of people who also booked with Ensemble (again we shared our own experiences with them, ALL NEGATIVE). It was cool that we met Mich’s long lost relative there and also met a very nice couple. They got Cebu Pacific’s flight though. It turns out that Ensemble ONLY provided a tour handler, NOT EXACTLY a tour guide so he wasn’t like Tita Nids who talked about Palawan. So I absolutely didn’t learn anything about the islands. We didn’t have a snorkeling instructor or guide too (I saw that other groups had someone go snorkeling with them) which was a pity coz they could have taught us the proper way to snorkel. I knew how to swim but I didn’t exactly know how to dive. I did see the pretty fishes and got to feed them! Oh by the way, we rented out beach shoes and snorkeling gear and had some free fish food There’s a stop on the way to the port. We were able to hop to Snake Island (my fave coz of the LOADS of fishes) and Pandan Island (LOTS OF ALGEA! Some starfishes and fishes but not as many, you could ride on banana boats, jetski and other activities though) only because our guide said that they were doing some renovations or what on Starfish Island. SO THEY SAY. So Ensemble again FAILS in this department because our tour wasn’t really equipped with a guide. WTF really. To those who have arranged Honday Bay Island hopping with other travel agencies, did you have a “real” guide? So I’ll let the pics do the talking

Snake Island!

Next stop was DINNER AGAIN! haha boy we loved our dinners! Oh by the way, Kookaburra can arrange tricycle rides to the main city BUT it’s really MORE EXPENSIVE! 20 pesos per person though the tricycle was indeed better than Manila’s trikes, i still think 20php is STEEP. So when going back from your location, you can either get another trike offering a cheaper price or contact Kookaburra again to pick you up So we had ours in Kalui’s! They were fullybooked by that time and it’s a good thing we reserved a place. I LOVED the ambiance of the place and we had to go barefoot inside the restaurant. The sounds and lighting were perfect. Except I actually loved the food at Kinabuch’s better though. Kalui’s seemed lacking something… hahah!

Basically I LOVED my Palawan trip except for some minor flaws (Ensemble -__-). Our island hopping day could have been better. I sure wish we stayed here for more than 3 days. It just isn’t enough. And now I’m wishing I could go back. But definitely not booking with Ensemble anymore (unless they hire me and I’ll fix their booking system, HA! XD)

I am really jiving with Maroon 5′s This Love now despite the time (man I remember that they became famous around 2004, first year high school! haha) gap because…. I’ve posted late again! Not because of love, but because this week is the HELL week of summer class. It’s the end to put out all the ends and I’m really striving to make it good especially in Japanese now. Japanese is fun as long as you have the time and patience and of course, the gusto to learn! Hai, soudesu!

So the weekend was… kind of extradordinary! You know times that you think were rough but they turned out to be pretty good after all when all has been said and done. I attended my… let’s see, my 6th concert last Saturday evening when the Davids came to town! Cookie was the American Idol last year and Archie was the runner up! Man, I never thought that Archie would be so cute in person! And Cook really knew how to pump up the crowd! It’s just to bad that those that weren’t his fans were visible because some of them just SAT DOWN AND WATCHED. Hello it’s a concert people? You’re supposed to scream and jump and go crazy! haha Too bad we weren’t able to sneak in the meet and greet tent! Arggh! So no pics guys Just gonna share 2 videos that me and my friend took! Sorry for the shaky cam and all. haha It looks like something that came out of Cloverfield.

Went home around 12:30am already and then had to wake up at 5:30 for rifle competition. I’m such a bad member right? lolz! haha well I had fun anyways even though my shots weren’t as good as the others and I finally had some bonding moments with the team! I didn’t go to the range that much last semester due to some conflicts. Rarr! But am making it up for this summer! Have to really train! ehheeh. I loved shooting in the Marines’ range because it’s air-conditioned and it was a particularly BLASTED HOT DAY. Thank the Lord!

Haha to all those who saw my tag in my last post and asked about why we took care of soo many animals… well i’ve just got one answer and that’s LOVE! Haha seriously, I mean would you take care of that much animals if you didn’t at least love them? Well it turns out that loving too much is too hard too since you keep on parting ways with them. This is the reason why we’ve cut it down to 3 birds, 1 parrot, 2 cats, 11 dogs and 5 puppies and a fish now. I miss my old pets… We’re breeders too by the way especially on golden retrievers, shih tzus and poodles. I’ll be actually putting up an online shop just NOT SURE WHEN. Have to see have to see Click here1, here2, here3, here4 of some of the pets we’ve had. No reptiles nor exotic animals here though

Have you ever heard of fredflare? I first heard this from my good friend Danwei of Cornyness shop (do visit her! She has the cutest earrings in the world!) because she was actually featured there! And then I saw these adorable PANDA UPSIDE DOWN MUG!! It would have been loads better if it were upright since you can’t see the Panda properly without letting it stand upside down. There are other animals styles too like cats and pigs but of course, the Panda’s got to be the best! hehee

Oh have you guys seen the kawaii icons there at my sidebar? (thanks to deviantart and the web! :D) It’s just above the tagboard and here I give you some sites where you can add me, follow me, subscribe to me or what the heck. Haha The IM thing there is probably for decorations because I don’t think people would really IM me and I wouldn’t just add anybody so introduce yourself first before you add okay? haha I remember now this one time (i blogged it in my old blogger account) when I received via AIRMAIL a letter by a PRISONER in the US! I have no idea how he got my address or anything, he just wanted to have someone to talk to. Too bad dad didn’t let me reply, now that I think about it, it would have been nice if I were able to help someone… but it was creepy…

Well I’ll end this note with a song! I’ve been bitten by the Chinese-emo-songs bug. I was feeling so lonely and dejected one day last week and my friend shared some of JJ Lin’s songs and they are wonderful! Guang Liang, another Chinese artist, has some lovely songs too but I’ll share them some other time. Try to listen even if you don’t know the words. The song is heartfelt and you’d understand it somehow too
