To those who read my PHILIPPINE ELECTIONS 2010: Food For Thought post, thank you very much! I’d appreciate it if you guys still read it, TOMORROW IS FINALLY THE ELECTIONS! For those undecided, you still have a few hours until you decide. Research well!

And for those asking if I bought the insanely expensive Rosetta Stone, think carefully when I said *cough cough**pirated** cough cough*. It’s not exactly a good thing but I can’t afford the original one T_T Sighs… If I only had money, everything I own would be original but no can do…

Okay so that was initially the introduction of my “latest entry” but I backed out and I went on hiatus and I’ll be actually going on another hiatus next week because of long exams and midterms. This semester is darn hard and I am trying to really fix it up. I’m so glad History 165 (Philippine History) is over because it’s the subject that tortured my soul out during summer class. It ate up all my free time and urgh, I’m just so happy that everything’s over and done with. I’m so glad that I actually edited a video again and it came out pretty good. That video saved me from my quizzes. Was able to scrape a B+ but an A would have been good… Should have done better in my midterms darn!

Now my only problems are Philosophy (it’s actually my favorite subject now despite all the headaches I’m getting from it. It really opens you up to a new way of thinking. I’d recommend anybody to take it up if it’s not in your core curriculum. Just get a good professor, one of the most important parts in class-picking XD), Software Engineering and Computer Organization. Computer Organization is kinda darn difficult but hopefully I’d manage!

I didn’t make an outline or list-of-things-to-blog-about again for this post so pardon me if my post is all over the place. xD I’m so grateful that you guys are really still visiting especially hello to my new blogger pals! I’ve been getting an alarmingly amount of AD-SPAM comments. Have you ever gotten those comments that suddenly talk about home loans or anything? Sorry those who try to advertise on my blog by COMMENTING, it’s just so weird to be getting those… I delete them right away XD

So I’ve had more free time this week so I was able to finish a new series (and it’s my new love, way better than Glee in my opinion :P) called Community. It’s about this lawyer who has to retake a 4-year college degree because of some problems with his previous degree so he decided to take the easy way out by attending the Community College of his friend, a psychology professor, but after trying to woo the first hot girl he sees, he suddenly “forms” a study group and then all hell breaks loose! This show introduces a new favorite character of mine who I’d like to call the next “Sheldon”. If you watch The Big Bang Theory then Abed of Community will definitely remind you of him but in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MANNER. Watch below if you want to watch a preview! I swear you have to watch this!

It’s so sad that most series have already released their season finale this week It’s so darn sad especially when it’s summer here and then you’d have to wait for a long time (November right?) for a new season. Darn! Good thing am now starting with True Blood and Flash Forward. Maybe finish the seasons of House and Ugly Betty too once I have enough time. Howell….

I’ve progressed a lot with my project 50 leaves and I’ve read 12 books already! WOOT! (okay so 4 of them are graphic novels… XD it’s still a form of a book :D) Am now reading my 13th one and hopefully I can finish it this weekend OR next next week Anybody with a Shelfari account? Add me pls? My project filmography is down in the dumps though.. I haven’t watched a movie in a while…

I FINALLY BOUGHT A NETBOOK GUYS!! Remember my predicament in the past regarding netbooks and how I wanted to so much for a Disney netbook? Well it never happened but I was able to get an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA for just 14,500php!! Woot! Upgraded memory (RAM) and all so it’s just 16,500php. A bargain if I should say since most netbooks here start at 19,000 I even bought Gelaskins for my netbook (still has no name ) and got 1 free since my friend and I availed the buy 3 get 1 free promo. Haha Will share it all once it arrives

My birthday’s coming up next week and I’m just not feeling it again. I’m going to our organization’s formsem (a weekend activity to get to know the new executive board and managers) on my birthday and I just don’t want to go to any activities on my birthday… I don’t like big celebrations since I’m more of a solitary person and I just want to celebrate it with either family or close friends. This is the reason why I chose to not tell my blockmates that it was my birthday on our first meeting (in our freshman’s orientation activity). XD What can I say, I’m a boring person and I don’t want people to fuss XD

But if there are generous people out there who are willing to make me happy, check out my Shelfari wish list? HAHHAA I do like getting books! XD But maybe I’ll feature stuff next week… HMM…

Congratulations to my brother by the way because he got the AUSTRALIAN GIG! He’s an AIESEC-er (do tell me if you guys are a part of AIESEC or if your university has AIESEC) and was one of the few chosen to apply for internships abroad! He’s applied from India to Norway but he finally sealed a deal with an Australian University that pays well! Not gonna reveal how much, just gonna say that it’s kinda big for an intern and an employee! So happy for him! He’s going to be leaving soon though, NEXT MONTH! I’m so gonna be sad though because I’ll be left alone again at home and I’ve got nobody to bug at home anymore It’s so sad…

Holy crapping crap, I can’t believe this really. My brother is actually going to work now and I’ll be working soon in 2 years (well that’s the plan XD and I’m glad that I’m earning even before I have a real job, :P was an assistant teacher too last summer for Chinese :P)!

SCARY but EXCITING at the same time! I can’t wait to be free from the struggles of college! NEXT WEEK IS OUR FINALS! WISH ME LUCK GUYS!! I am soo happy that everything will be over (at least for 2 weeks) and I get to rest now! PHEW!

Remember my last post about music? Like how it was the universal language for all of us? It’s true that mathematics can arguably be also our universal language but I’m in music’s side. I just didn’t realize, never knew… that MUSIC IS RESTRICTED IN SOME COUNTRIES. Especially in Islamic countries where they think that music actually makes you lazy and should only be used to glorify Allah. I’m not saying it’s a bad rule but to the point where people actually say that say that contestants in their Pop Idol contest SHOULD BE KILLED… is saying something else. I mean these people aren’t even SINGING RAP/METAL. They’re just singing and this means freedom to them. This is an expression of themselves and it is sad that it should be restricted so! I want to watch this documentary that follows the journey of the top four contestants. Anyway here’s a better summary from TheMovieBlog,

I hope that there might be some slight changes in Islam but that is so unlikely… or I mean, people should have this freedom there. I really don’t see anything wrong in singing with all your heart. We sing not just for ourselves anyway, we sing for our loved ones and probably for them, definitely for their Allah. This is certainly such a controversial topic! Speaking of relatives, I am so sad to hear that my favorite cousins from before (we became detached because of parents and shiz, so there haven’t spoken to them for like 5-7 years or something) are now migrating to Canada. And that my other set of cousins *young ones* ARE GOING TO CANADA TO THIS YEAR. Hell, only 1 other set of cousins besides us are staying in the Philippines. We’re going to be soo few now… This reminds me of how scary the future is, I’ve always been sort of afraid of the future, I mean what happens after college? Work? Where? When? ARGH. I’m going to miss all the lost time that would have been spent bonding with my cousins… I mean we did hit it off again even after a large year diff, even teasing my 2 month younger-than-me cousin that he looks like a Korean XD hahaa. Good thing there’s facebook, I really regret not keeping in touch. Sighs

I don’t want to really share family photos online so I “hid” it here. Do you think we look alike? 2 cousins at the left are the younger ones who will go to Canada later this year. The three at the right are going to Canada in… 7 days and the guys are my favorite cousins. Big dude in red is bro XD.

So there… I’m feeling sad and I feel so weird right now… I have this sudden bouts of “sadness” (i don’t want to call it depression) and it’s happening now. Good thing my best friend is helping me by making me laugh XD Oh and to not burden you guys much, I SUGGEST YOU WATCH PRINCESS AND THE FROG. I swear, after watching a couple of minutes, I couldn’t help but be like the Top Movie Critic, Roger Ebert, and exclaim

“No 3-D! No glasses! No extra ticket charge! No frantic frenzies of meaningless action! And . . . good gravy! A story! Characters! A plot! It’s set in a particular time and place! And it uses (calm me down here) lovingly hand-drawn animation that proceeds at a human pace, instead of racing with odd smoothness. I’m just gonna stand here and let it pour over me.”

Oh classic Disney with hand drawn animation, HOW I MISSED YOU. I teared up guys. I rarely do that but I teared up at the end of this movie. Was it the Disney magic? Or just plain relief of seeing hand-colored images brought painstakingly and lovingly to life by these artists? Or was it the richness of the personality of the characters? The songs in my opinion won’t be classics like Under the Sea or Beauty and the Beast or A Whole New World, but you’ll groove to the music. I have the last song syndrome with some though, and it has such a beautiful love/dedication song too. Watch and you’ll see.

Another hilarious thing happened last week, my mom and dad were at a dog show in Cavite and my dad playfully put Chico in front of the DRIVER’S SEAT with the engine running. Little did he know that Chico would put his paws and place them heavily on the LOCK SO BAM!! They were locked out of the car! XD Good thing mum had friends who helped them “break” into our own car. Too bad I wasn’t there!! XD

Oh I need your help guys! THIS IS IT! Four days from now, I would have finally chosen my TOP 3 DESTINATIONS for JUNIOR TERM ABROAD!! This is finally happening! Ever since I have been hearing about JTA in high school, I’ve been so ecstatic and anxious and now when it’s finally here, I AM SO FRIGGING NERVOUS AND SO UNDECIDED. I have already picked my 3 destinations, Japan(Osaka University), US(University of San Francisco or U of Pacific) or France (Lille Catholic University). Now all I need is to arrange them in order. I really like all three because of the many wonderful experiences in store. I still have to discern a lot this weekend and choose for Monday is the deadline. I want to take up subjects other than Computer Science so that i don’t know… have more experience in other fields. If you were in my place, how would you rank them?

Finally finally my package from Threadless has arrived last week! It took almost 2 months for it to ship. Reckon it was stuck in customs? So weird, because the panda hat I bought later also from the US came before these 2 shirts.

What you think about the shirts? I wanted this one but it is STILL OUT OF STOCK. Bummer !

I do want to promote their shirt for Haiti. I know I haven’t talked about Haiti and I feel quite guilty because I was all out for Ondoy. I tried to help though. I donated to Phil Red Cross for their Haiti relief operations and I’m still spreading the news on twitter and facebook. I really can’t imagine how Haiti is coping. They are less fortunate than us Philippines and have fewer resources so I am quite concerned with their manpower. And I’ve been hearing about the violence that they experiencing. An earthquake is quite different from the flood because buildings collapsed here. More damage has been done. People in Haiti must really be frightened. If I only can go there, I would to! If any brave soul with the capability to go there, please do try since airline tickets have dropped for easy access to Haiti. I will still keep on praying for them… oh here’s their shirt by the way!

I also received Sis Tricia’s package OMG WHOOT!! MY VERY FIRST CONTACT LENS! She even gave me a small pouch and a keychain from Singapore! h thank you sis!! So happy! your letter! I still haven't successfully put the contacts. It's soo dang hard. XD I will definitely post a pic once I am able to do it. I'll try it later in the evening. I'll need some help XD haha!!

Now to the gist of the post! I’ve been really wanting to talk about how innovation is affecting our lives. I’ve been enjoying the past few classes of PS140 Electronics and it is WEIRD for me because I normally scrunch my face when I hear of electronics because I just don’t understand it at times. But good thing Sir showed us how cool electronics is and how technology is changing. He introduced us to TED and in their site I quote,

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year’s TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.

People in TED hold a lot of conferences and forums and if you just watch some of them, you’d be amazed how man has traveled so far and how going to the moon now is just a cinch. I mean imagine a world like the one in Ironman, where Tony Stark is just manipulating and staring at an invisible screen but yet he is able to move windows, resize them and input calculations. It’s awesome isn’t it? I was actually able to watch the video where I saw this almost happening. You can take pictures WITH JUST YOUR FINGERS. Get information of a book from Amazon by just screening the pages/title cover. AMAZING. Are you ready to watch this SIXTH SENSE?

But I realized… if this device can just point at a person’s face and identify him immediately, isn’t it… a bit stalker-ish? This device gives a whole lot of knowledge and in our society today, KNOWLEDGE is INDEED POWER. It’s crazy and scary at the same time how technology is advancing so quickly. I really do think that the movie I Robot may actually be possible now.

For me, technology shouldn’t be selfish. This device is a bit selfish in a sense that you want everything at once and anything. If you invent something that saves lives, then that’s something really marvelous. My favorite innovation that sir showed us was the lifesaver bottle. He was inspired by Hurricane Katrina when he saw that after the devastation, people were cloistered and were getting sick everywhere. Access to food and most importantly water is almost non-existent. People were still dying. Michael Pritchard then researched and after a few prototypes (you can just imagine how many times he must have gotten sick himself), he was able to invent a water bottle that even if you put the MOST POLLUTED RIVER WATER (case in point: pasig river or yangtze river), you’d be able to filter out DRINKING WATER.

Again. AMAZING.

Did you know that the size of a bacteria/virus is 25 NANOMETERS and the size of the pores of the filtering systems of our water filtering centers is around A MICRON? Food for thought. GET THIS, they actually have a website already *just saw it, silly me XD* HELP HAITI BY DONATING 25$ and give them a water bottle! Pls go this site for more information.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen these water bottles before, I really want to invest in this and bring it here in the Philippines. GOSH REALLY AMAZING.

And more doggie news! I went to my mum’s friend’s place (the on you know, who I talked about had a pool just for her doggies?) but too bad I didn’t see the oldie golden retrievers swimming about! XD Good thing Tita (aunt in Filipino, you call your mum’s friends aunt too :D) was able to capture these moments!

Ever since my alarm clock broke… well i haven’t had anything to wake me up except mum’s screams. XD And am lusting over this. T_T It’s soo cool and it’s an ipod speaker to boot! Anybody wanna give this as an advance birthday present? haha it’d be good when I go to Junior Term Abroad too! Oh yeah, which brings me that the list of schools being offered will be released NEXT WEEK! It’s finally happening!

Was your New Year as loud as this in the Philippines? I swear I think I’ve gone DEAF-er *if that’s possible* but there was less fireworks and revelry. but wait.. it’s still a lot XD

I’ve had a rough and good time with 2009. So many firsts, so many letdowns and heartaches. It was a great mix of a year but somehow I feel that 2010 will be more memorable. It’s the year I finally (AND HOPEFULLY) will live abroad, leave my teen years (really, I’m just going to be 12 years old! XD), hopefully find a part of me somewhere and I don’t know what else. I hope for more opportunities. I feel like shattering into a million pieces because of this excitement in me. I want to just feel everything…

Okay a bit emotional here… But really I am so hopeful. I want a lot of things on my bucket list be fulfilled. I’ve joined again some projects and made some on my own. And holy frigging hell, i’m going to turn 30 in 2020 FRIGGING HELL. Oh please decade, don’t… don’t move so fast… Now I’m becoming anxious. Oh dear me…

I’m so sorry guys for not visiting you lately, I’ve become sort of “unattached” again with the online world so even though I’m online, I’m doing something else and not exactly concentrating on my blog. I have needed the break. I feel like I can do more now, hopefully be less distracted *except for Tumblr, Tumblr’s a bit addicting still and I do upload my Project 365*. Only two more days until second semester starts and I’m frankly not excited about it. I’ll probably toss and turn in bed on Sunday night because of this anxiety. I feel like my sembreak wasn’t fulfilling or anything. But I did have a lot of fun though. Could have been loads better. First off I was able to get in La Salle (another university here in Manila that has FRIGGING STRICT RULES FOR VISITORS) along with my best buds last Nov. 5! Too bad Chair couldn’t go I think my friends are even blacklisted now, because our “museum excuse” didn’t cut out for it because instead of staying for only 40 minutes, we stayed there for over an hour! Oopsie… Going home was exciting too because Daynee and I had to take the MRT, alas again the klutzy ol’ me was almost crushed by the MRT doors AGAIN. I was first “almost crushed” by LRT 1′s train doors so I only need to be crushed in LRT 2 then I would have a collection of klutzy memories! Woe is me! The MRT doors were hard to push open though and force myself inside as the train was moving… really why do trains like leaving me?

Had fun yesterday too! I got FREE ATENEO LIMITED EDITION SMART BROADBAND USB! They were giving them away to the first 300 students who were able to register and validate their IDs. Even before this, I so wanted a broadband USB so I could be online ANYWHERE as long as I have a laptop and then this free ad caught me eye! Man it took a long process though! Unfortunately forgetful-me forgot to bring a celphone so I had to find a Smart (one of our telecommunication giants here) sim card and a phone to boot so I’d be able to register. Good thing they were giving out free sim cards too! And this is what I got!

The met up with the foreign exchange students at our school so that we could orient and tour them around! I’m a member of the student exchange council of our school and we got to get buddies! I was paired with Choi and also Jessica (both from Korea) because my first buddy wasn’t there (Austrian). Got to mingle with thee German dudes, 2 French dudettes, 2 Chinese dudettes, and the Spanish lot! XD haha The Spanish lot were soo funny! Too bad can’t go to their party today Aww man. Am excited to meet them around campus in 2nd semester! I’m so stupid for forgetting to take a picture with them. *smacks head* :wah howell

I do plan out my posts because… my mind is just a scramble of ideas and I’d go ballistic and everything would seem all over the place (like it’s already not XD) if I just write free flowingly. Plus I don’t write personal stuffs so it’s harder not to plan out what I’m going to say. I save the things I want to share so there… resulting to a long blog post about imaginary friends.

Oh yeah! This is a post just about them

I saw this in Tumblr and I just can’t help but wonder if other people really did have imaginary friends. Nickle had some very interesting tales like how she thinks that someone used to poke her at night in her old room so she moved into a new one or how Lev talks to her imaginary friend for more than 6 years I think. I don’t think I ever had one because I just talked to my stuff toys and polly pocket and barbies (I wasn’t that much of a Barbie girl… but my favorite Barbie was Diver Barbie with the Killer Whale squeaky toy! :D). They were probably the closest thing I had to imaginary friends.

My brother and I made this imaginary land called “Wonderland” (how original) and we were the rulers of the stuff toys. I was the queen of Magic land and he was the King of Science Land and we had various adventures. Gosh I sound deranged. Do I? I also thought that I was neither introvert nor extrovert around 11 years old because I really thought I had 4 personalities, Tiff A, Tiff B, Tiff C and Tiff D. When I either become very insecure, it’s probably Tiff B talking. If i’m overly hyper, then it’s probably Tiff C. Up to now, I still sort of believe this… but not as much as when I was younger.

So there I’m weird. XD hahaa

Sorry about the sudden weirdness, I’ve started recently to watch The Big Bang Theory (Click for more info about it) and I just can’t help but laugh out loud at Sheldon’s weird antics and how nerdy everyone is! I can’t believe that I can relate to the series because a couple of them are Physicists and I just took up Physics so I knew what they were talking about! XD Man! It’s really hilarious and I recommend it to everyone! WATCH THE FRIENDSHIP ALGORITHM! *as a teaser, note this is a TV series hehe*

Mum also sends me weird e-mails and her latest one just reminded me of All Hallow’s Eve! Another thing to tickle your tummy!

I can’t think… seriously. I woke up today thinking that I’d write my entry that I’d prepared over the whole week because a lot of things happened. Little did I know that I would wake up to a CITY SUBMERGED IN WATER.

Unlike the past BIG STORMS, we didn’t get the message for this one. Sure PAG-ASA (Weather bureau of the Philippines) did warn us that Typhoon ‘Ondoy’ was coming but they didn’t give the RED ALERT unlike for Bagyong Milenyo (Storm of the Millenium) but they should have still made a BIGGER WARNING. If you’ve been reading my plurks and tweets, you’d FEEL the alarm and almost panicky tone that I’m projecting. During Bagyong Milenyo, the WINDS WERE CRAZY. Trees were uprooted, branches and debris were flying everywhere. But now for Ondoy…. I GIVE YOU PICTURES.

Steven has been asking me what a storm looks like here and here they are… except this is probably one of the WORST STORMS here. Gosh.. As I type this now, the rain has still not stopped for more than 12 hours now. What a frigging rainy day. I was even joking about this rain a while ago with my friends who were stranded at school (YES, THEY WENT TO SCHOOL this morning!) and about cannibalism and such. People were sharing pictures of this and that and now that most people are probably stranded on the roads now, I’m really worried and I hope they do get home! My closest blockmate has still not replied to me… I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE SAFE WHEREVER YOU ARE!! I will pray for you guys! Will plurk/tweet for some rescue updates and such.

WORLD OF HARRY POTTER AND SHOPPING ▼

If you’ve been following my site, you know that I’m a Harry Potter fan. Because of that, I’ve recently made some purchases and I GOT MESELF A HERMIONE CHARM at Etsy. I swear it’s so cute and it’s not dangling on my lanyard. It finally arrived when my mum’s friend from US came home last week. I also bought something from Shirt.Woot! Well my friend bought it actually. I’m still waiting for my own purchases that we sent to my best friend’s aunt in US. What do you think?

And of course… Universal Florida e-mailed me (yes, I’m that important! haha kidding, actually I subscribed to their e-mail) about THE MOST AWAITED HARRY POTTER THEME PARK OPENING NEXT YEAR SPRING. Now I seriously want someone to please bring me to Florida because this is like a dream come true! Reading books made Hogwarts so real and I have always wanted to know what a BUTTERBEER would taste like. I already have a tase in mind but still, it’d be awesome tasting it’s foamy goodness! This post should have been posted a week ago but procrastination and emotional instability got in the way. Have you ever experienced being too attached to something that you couldn’t concentrate for a few days or so? That was how it felt like after reading Harry Potter books 6 and 7 all over again.

I finally watched the ALMOST fail Harry Potter Movie 6 – it’s a 6.5/10 in my books. I didn’t really love it because of the unnecessary scenes (THE BURROW CORNFIELD SCENE, WHAT?) but the cinematography and the Cave scene made up for it. Call it MAD obsession or what, I couldn’t help reread the books and compare (of course the movies fail miserably) and then after reading the last page, I almost cried myself silly. Well I actually teared up during the scene where …. died… I was a mess during Theology class. Go figure my insanity.

Maybe it’s because I grew up with Harry Potter. I picked up the first 3 Harry Potter books when I was 10 and I grew attached to them. And when the final book came out, I was the same age as Harry, 17. And I couldn’t believe that Harry was experiencing all of these at the age of 17. I figured that my life was really dull so I was being an HP fanatic and looking for Harry Potter merchandise. I was ‘Accio-ing’ things and calling my dogs “Harry” or “Ron” or “Voldemort”. I want to go study at the University in Portugal just because they were cloaks and robes to school. Thanks to Angela, I made this too (haha WISH I WAS LIKE THIS EH?)

Freaky right? I hate clowns. I want to kill them for existing because their smiles are just CREEPY AND APPALLING. This picture is supposed to be funny but I’m not that amused. (International friends, Jollibee the mascot here is the mascot for a McDonalds-like franchise here in the Philippines. It’s extremely popular because they serve YUMMY rice meals fast and rice is the staple food here. We eat RICE EVERYDAY.) Anyway go laugh at this picture if you want.

One other sad thing is the state of North Korea (Got this from my friend, Lady). Did you know that they celebrated their 60th anniversary as a country? They had mass games and demonstrations but as you can see, they’re actually not smiling. Go to this site and out of 32 pictures, only one guy is smiling. How horrendous the stories of concentration camps are in this post too. I think that the communist beliefs of N. Korea is just horrible. I mean if it’s for the good, then why torture, isolate, and beat yourselves up? You can’t even get along with your FELLOW Koreans. Why?? I don’t know the whole history of Korea so I can’t really comment.. but it’s just brutal!
