So when Discovery Channel started its Curiosity series, I was intrigued. Heck and they keep on showing the commerial for its episode on female orgasm and what it’s for narrated by maggie gylenhall. But what really interested me was their segment for….WAIT FOR IT….

Andrew Sage (guy from myth busters) tries to explore this world and yep, freakily (is there such a word?) the technology we have today seems to be telling us that it is possible in the near 50 or so years. THEORY OF SINGULARITY GUYS! (try googling what it is. XD) I really liked the segment except for a few farfetched parts (a flying brain… Seriously? but…) anyway i’ll stop yapping and you can check it out now. So it’s the New Year tomorrow. Besides asking a lot of questions, I do want 2012 to be a fresh start. So many thins will change and i am optimistic at saying that 2012 be an awesome year for me. I swear that today will be the last day of procrastination. I have to fix my life and find le reason! LE REASON! I even thought of a new tradition of writing down this year’s failures and achievements and burning it afterwards. Or maybe i should only burn the failures… Maybe oh dear i only have a few hours to decide xD.

Have I ever mentioned that I love this holiday? Haha and I took this opportune moment to herald the total revamp of my site! I’ve finally updated my rotting pages (heck my bio hasn’t been updated in 2 years!) and fixed some broken links (still open to link exchange!) and also do you notice anything? Anything different at all? Nah you probably don’t…

BUT IF YOU DO……. It’s all thanks to my dearest and most awesome artist friend Liza! Please head on over to her site and give her some loving while you oooh and aah at her other works. I didn’t think a Harry Potter Panda theme was possible but she made it all happen. So what do you think? I decided to shake things up a bit here because I thought that I needed an “identity” and I felt lost amidst all the other blogs there and I needed a look that would scream me.

and (the end of the world OMG haha naah) 2012 is just right around the corner. Honestly for me, 2011 hasn’t been one of my best years. I’ve always thought that Senior Year would have been awesome because of what my friends have gone through but I absolutely feel NO SENTIMENTALITY at all. :/ It’s kinda crazy but I just want 2011 to be over and done with. I may sound like a cruel person (or maybe I am…) but this is just another phase that I will get through. Maybe because 2010 has been so awesome that 2011 is left behind the shadows but I doubt that this is the case. I’ll stick to the reason that I’m just not a sentimental person.

I won’t deny that 2011 has given me a LOT OF FIRSTS. Check out my about me page coz I added a few things there! I’ve started to bake, climbed a mountain, got drunk, blacked out, first time to go to Palawan, first k… okay so a lot of things happened but I seriously can’t wait for 2012 just because I have this bubbling optimism for it. I’m finally, FINALLY going to be able to work and make a difference with my life. I think that’s the biggest step anyone can achieve. To finally be able to plant a flag and say “I DID THIS ON MY OWN AND I CAN SUPPORT MYSELF”. Well to that effect anyway. I want to help my family and myself so much and I think that this is one of the only ways to do it. And really, working entails meeting new people and creating a new life, wherever I may go to. I don’t want to divulge anything yet but I’ve been applying here and there. Let’s just see how it goes.

So my only Christmas wish this year is for everything to fall in place. Vague but it stands true for me. I don’t want any material things (okay who am I kidding, if anyone can give me Steve Jobs’ biography or the Harry Potter Page to Screen book or any of the books in my shelfari, or a book shelf, or a trip to HK, etc. I’D LOVE YOU FOREVER!) so no Christmas lists for this year. Being stable is the most important thing for me now.

In my last post, I blogged about making Butterbeers and here’s one of the recipes I’ve used (Please add whipped cream). There are actually a lot of versions online and I didn’t even get to try this flaming butterbeer (do tell me if you do!) because Schnapps are hell expensive! And so are the other ingredients.

I did get to try butterbeer latte and my friend and I loved this! Better than the Cream Soda one I think but seriously, only drink small amounts because of the buttery-ness! For those who are health conscious… I’m not sure if Butterbeer is the best bet for you

Oh! And for your Christmas movie list, please PLEASE include Les Choristes (The Chorus in French) in your list. It may seem dark and depressing at first but I assure you that you’ll have tears in your eyes. Or at least a few drops! haha! We watched this for our European film class and so far this is the most heartwarming one. Good thing for youtube, the full movie can be seen online! Watch the trailer then hit the spoiler for it

OMG OMG OMG OMG I have somebody new to fangirl about! Although I’m sure not everyone will agree with me on this but please bear with me. Or you can click close on this spoiler. haha!

Wasn’t Pierre Mohrange’s voice DIVINE? Seriously his voice is so angelic and kinda makes you want him to sing you to sleep. I researched about the film more and also the choir that went on tour after this film was released last 2003 and lo and behold, I found out that Jean-Baptiste Maunier, the actor/singer with the awesome voice who played Pierre, is just the same age as moi! 8D Well it was his birthday 2 days ago! It’s so hard to fangirl about him though because there’s hardly anything on him save for a few movies. Even his main site doesn’t look that updated. Oh well, I shall enlist the help of my expert-stalker friend and help me! hahaha! Well here’s an eye candy pic for ya’ll! 8D <3 <3 <3

Is there a Santa Claus? – a physicist view

Consider the following:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn’t (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total – 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that’s 91.8 million homes. One presumes there’s at least one good child in each.

3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75-1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc. This means that Santa’s sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man- made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second – a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.

4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that ‘flying reindeer’ (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload – not even counting the weight of the sleigh – to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison – this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance – this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth’s atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force. In conclusion – If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he’s dead now. Say what?..

I haven’t written anything personal for a while… okay maybe I have but I haven’t really blogged because I wanted to just write for the heck of it. I’ve always been writing as if I were in a mission or something lately like that NU Skin Scam (part 2 is coming right up!) and Ensemble E-Travel/Metrodeal Scam but now I just wanna share what’s been going on lately (which isn’t much… i think I’m becoming as useful as a fly… which isn’t really useful more of a pest… *talks more to self* ) through photos! Narration is just too long and I know that everyone’s busier than a bee these days! Also tune in for a GREAT REBRANDING/MAKEOVER of my site!

I’ve also got a new tutorial for Mac users concerning how to use and add subtitles. I’ve done a bit of research and have found a way to play subtitles with MKV files. So if you got a problem with it, check this out.

Ever since becoming a Pottermore beta tester, I’ve been actively participating with Order of the Lions, a Gryffindor order where we share tips and tricks of Pottermore and share other Gryffindor creations. I’m really happy because I found such good friends and we were even able to put up an Unofficialy Daily Prophet. It turns out this selfish notion disappeared because I now feel so worthwhile when somebody says, IT TASTES FANTASTIC!, after having someone eat your cooked meal. Brother and I made Roasted Iberian Chicken, Garbanzos, Yogurt sauce and I think we did well! My brother is a great cook really.

And when Halloween came and brother didn’t allow me to cook a Halloween dinner, I then decided to make drinks, Butterbeer Latte (milk version) and Cream Soda version with my friend and BOY did I love making it! For recipes, comment here and I shall show you Next time I’ll be baking cupcakes, another thing to cross off my bucket list. Oh I do love latte version better, especially after leaving it in the fridge for a while. I wish I could have trick or treated though NEXT YEAR I SHALL PREPARE!

Last October 5 was indeed a truly memorable date. I woke up excited and getting ready for university and preparing for my Philosophy orals. I visited our thesis lab and decided to hang out with my friends. The minute I got in, a close friend saysngf

Friend: “Hey did you know about Steve Jobs leaving?”
Me: (thinking it was his resign) “Yeah! That’s old news, he’s been like that for a LONG TIME!”
Friend: “Oh really? Okay…”er
(after a few minutes)
Another Friend: “Man it’s all over how Steve Jobs died so suddenly…”
Me: “WTFJWEIOFJEOFHEKF387438UEIHW289*?”:l{u^rgi%! ARE YOU FRIGGING SERIOUS?”

An atomic bomb fell on top of my head and exploded my brains out. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t even want to think about it, heck I didn’t even want to fathom how life will be different. I may be some insignificant person in southeast asia but the impact that Steve Jobs gave to my life… the fact that he built Pixar, Apple… they’re all so important to me and this tragic event is a life changer for me. I couldn’t help but tear up when I heard the news. Look at me you would say, pathetic me crying over some stranger’s death. But Steve Jobs isn’t some stranger just as Harry Potter is or J. K. Rowling. You feel like you know them because you have some sort of connection, no matter how frail it may be. Your worlds collide if I may be cheesy. Now I say farewell to this part of my Bucket List,

Now I’ll never be able to do it, it isn’t physically possible. I won’t be able to go crazy and tell him THANK YOU FOR HAVING SUCH A WONDERFUL MIND!! I won’t be able to hear his brilliant ideas anymore. Steve Jobs is the reason why I want to work for Pixar or Apple. I still remember my first apple product, the ipod nano (WHICH IS STILL ALIVE BTW :D) which Steph my best friend and I were drooling over. It was the sleekest mp3 player out there and wasn’t bulky at all like the ipod classic. Heck 4gig seem so big back that and owning such a device would be a dream come true. Good thing my parents gave me the chance. And then came my 18th birthday. I had no debut or anything but my parents treated me again to my first and only Macbook Pro. It’s a DREAM because the interface, the flow, the design, the graphics, the performance was just suitable for me. Photobooth was indeed such a great invention too And Pixar was there since Toy Story, bringing me happiness and tears and being simply awesome. Steve Jobs made that all happen.

I admire Steve Jobs not only because of the great products he helped put together and sell, but also because he unlike other innovators shunned the spotlight. He was doing these things not for fame or glory (why would he stick with the same fashion for years then?) but he simply wanted to help people out of his genuine love for innovation. He gave us what we needed and not only what we wanted. I have this new perspective because of reading an article in today’s newspaper how Steve Jobs in his final weeks, just wanted to be with his family. He didn’t entertain fanboys because he was too weak and he didn’t want to be praised ALL the time. This is why… I hope he somehow felt my *quiet* fangirling. Like Steve, I’m not a crazy fan at all, I don’t push people HEY BUY APPLE PRODUCTS or hate all those Windows user. I hope that he somehow felt it and now I hope he knows how much I really admire him from afar. I hope that he was really peaceful when he left and that he was content with what God gave him even for a short while.
56 years old is just too young. Too young.

Yet I thank God for giving the world one of the most intelligent, most revolutionary, awesome human beings on the planet. He will be remembered by us through films, products and legend.

Thanks for inspiring me, for telling everyone to follow WHAT THEY LOVE. Don’t stop being foolish. Don’t stop being curious. Don’t stop living. He’s given me hope amidst this depression of mine. Grades aren’t all that. You just need the heart and the will.

“Harry Potter meant so much to me and still does even though the series is over. When I was young, the books were my escape from life. At that time, there was a lot of fighting going on in my home and when it would get to the point where I just couldn’t take it anymore I would slip into my room, close the door, start reading, and drift into another world where my problems didn’t matter. I remember many dreams of actually attending the school and how happy I was when I would wake up from those dreams, just looking forward to getting to continue reading and then reading the book over and over again until the new one came out. I can recall countless times to where I would stay up WAY past my bedtime reading the books, hiding a flashlight under my pillow until the hall light shut off. Harry Potter was my escape; my other reality to where I didn’t have any problems which is probably why I have such an emotional connection to the series and the characters themselves.

J.K. Rowling of course did the world a great favor by writing this series, but also did me a great favor by making my childhood bearable and not allowing the anger to consume me. Pottermore is just another gift from her that I would love to experience and honestly if you chose me I would be incredibly grateful.”

I completely agree with you that I slip away into the world of Harry Potter whenever I read the books. We are so grateful for J.K. Rowling for creating the best magical world for us!

My Most Harry Potter Experience was when I got to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and experience the most amazing and magical things. I bought a lot of stuff including Polyjuice Potion, Slytherin Scarf, Parchment Set and loads more. It was such an awesome place and I was so sad to leave. I even got to see BuckBeak!
What does Harry Potter mean in your life?
Harry Potter means so much to me. See, my parents died when I was 9 and 2 weeks before they died my dad gave me Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone as a gift. My mom was an avid reader of Harry Potter and she said she had already completed the whole set. She wanted me to enjoy the magical adventures and to start collecting my own set and so I did. Harry Potter makes me feel happy and makes me feel that my parents are right here by my side, guiding me through challenges and complications. J.K. Rowling is an extraordinary author. First of all i’d like to say that giving these PM acc with no benefit is great, very generous of you. I think that every HP fan deserves an account and everyone has a unique, speacial story. Here’s mine:

For my personally HP was the first novel i’ve read for fun at the age of 8 (i learned to read when i was 4 but it was hardly “reading” in the full sense). Till then all i have been reading was scientific books, you know, encyclopedias and other stuff like that. I could tell you about Einstein and World War, however i was completely oblivious to reading for fun. The HP turned out to be an amazing story, that sometimes makes you laugh or cry, but most inportantly it was a magic fairytale for old and young. That was my first book and soon i found myself telling my classmates about it, living in a very small town there wasn’t any other fans i could talk to about it. So i decided to create some. I was taking my book with my everywere on the playground, at school, because i wanted to tell as more children i could. Soon i had my friends hooked about the book and we were playing all sorts of hp games imitating the book, imagining that we’re wizards and so one. When we were 11-12 years old we found a HP RPG forum, so we created our own characters, it was the first RPG forum and the second HP forum in my country. It became the most successful online forum. It was six years ago and back then that thing was huge, i mean noone even knew what RPG was let alone RPG about HP. It was like discovering Pottermore. There, in the forum i met wonderful people i learned to write amazing stories full of imagination and i was having fun. The forum helped me a lot with my writing abilities and all that thanks to HP books, because of which i started reading. So for me, it all started with HP : ) !”

“My name is Ana, I’m 17 years old and Harry Potter changed my life
Without the book, I probably wouldn’t be able to write this at all because I’m not a native English speaker. All of the big moments in my life were caused by HP. My love for reading started at the age of 6 while reading the first book with my mum. Here are just a couple of the major things Harry changed in my life:
1) Because I loved HP so much, I thought I should read another book, and thus became the book-worm and aspiring writer I am today.
2) I taught myself English when I was 8 years old so I could read the books in the original language. A couple of years later,I thought I’d give another language a go since I learnt English so quickly.I know fluently speak 5 languages.
3) I got my excellent education because of Harry – Since the book is based in the UK I really wanted to study there, so I worked really hard and got a scholarship for a very good school there, where I stayed for a year.
4) I met the most amazing people while obsessing over HP. They truly make my life worth living

I honestly don’t know where I’d be without the books, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have had such a great life without them.
And if I could, I would have gotten Pottermore myself (believe me, I tried everything), but I had a bad family situation over the summer and as much as I love Harry, I had to put my family first.”

I really now believe that Potterheads are the best people in the world because they let Harry live on. J. K. Rowling is simply AMAZING!

“What does Harry Potter mean in my life? I don’t even know if I can answer that porperly.
Most importantly, Harry has taught me a lot about friendshp. He has made me cry, he has made me laugh and everything between that. He gave me a way to escape my life for at least a few hours, when I was having trouble a few years ago.
One of the first memories I have is my mum, my brother and me, sitting in the livingroom on christmas eve, while my mother read the first Harry Potter book to us. I was only five, but I loved those moments so much, that, a few years later, I decided I was old enough to read the third book on my own.

Not only Harry himself, but also the fandom, all the Potterheads, have made my life so much better. I’m a huge fan of several books and series, but this fandom is not only a fandom, it’s a family. A gigantic, chaotic, not always harmonic family. I’ve never met a Potterhead that was not lovely and simply adorable, a lot of them are my closest friends now. For me, the Harry Potter fandom stands for support and tolerance and excitement and passion. I don’t know where I would be without all of the Wizard Rock Groups, Starkids, Snape Lovers, Hufflepuffs etc, etc.

I love those books for making me the person I am today, with all the quirks I have.

Oh my god, this is so freakin long, I’m sorry A pottermore account would be beyond awesome, since I wasn’t able to get in, because I was a counselor in a camp for kids at that time And again sorry for the long story ”
