Why is Glee raking up the nominations in the Emmys? It’s the first time I actually tuned in but I can’t believe they actually GOT THAT MANY nominations in the comedy categories! And to think Community isn’t even IN THERE. Injustice! Parks and Recreations was mentioned so maybe I’ll try that series out sometime

Not that I don’t like Glee, I like it really. I’m glad for nominations of Chris Colpher as Kurt and Jane Lynch as Sue but the rest… am not sure. Am soo glad that Neil Patrick Harris got a nom as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother and Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory. I really need to see the hype of 30 Rock and see if it’s really as funny and the other ones mentioned too. Gyah!

I think my past 3 consecutive posts have started with me apologizing for not updating that frequently but I think I’ll just stop saying it because then my posts will have become redundant. And I don’t want to read the same thing over and over again (unless of course it’s Harry Potter or a good read heeehee) too so I’ll save you guys the trouble. I’ve just come to accept the fact that I won’t be posting like crazy like the past months. I actually can’t believe that I always post so few during June. *check my past archive XD* I guess it’s because it’s always the start of a new school year but this year it’s different. Actually this whole later half of the year will be different, I’ll be going out of the country in August and I can’t imagine being able to maintain my site for four months. Hell, I just realized this problem… I hope that I’ll still be able to update though!

I’ve been feeling so… I don’t know, weird (well I’m always weird…), desolate, emo and all that crap the past few weeks. In philosophy, I’ve learned that desorbitation causes these kinds of feelings and I think I am experiencing desorbitation. It’s the loss of not of something, but of SOMEPLACE, of the WHOLE thing/being actually. I mean think about it. If you lost for example a car key, you’d definitely be able to find it, because it’s tangible and all. But what if you *knock on wood* failed the biggest exam that would determine your future? What did you lose really? The test score? The feeling? What? You’ve probably lost the reason for living or something. Well… I think I’ve lost something… I’m just not sure on what.

For this post, I’m going to keep it short and let you guys do the talking. A friend of mine asked this question recently….

“If money wasn’t an issue, nor expectations from peers and family, what would your job be? What do you want do?”

Well I’d answer: founder of a wildlife preserve in Africa, South America and maybe China. I’d want to help in the environment. I’d also want to be a food taster, be in broadway, be a voice actress. How about you guys?

Wizarding World of Harry Potter FINALLY OPENS TO THE PUBLIC!

Even if you’re not a Harry Potter fan, you must at least be excited for the fact now you can go in castles, DRINK BUTTERBEER (this will be the first thing I’ll do), ride dragons, ride broomsticks, go to Zonko’s joke shop, candy shop and I’m sure a WHOLE LOADS MORE after a few years of more construction and renovation. Good thing I’ll probably be able to go there after uh.. 5 years? Well that’s an estimate anyway and it could change but I gotta save meself some money first!

The cast of Harry Potter were there on the grand opening and it was simply magical! It’s best to check out the videos here and just be WOW-ED!

Does anybody plan to go there anytime soon this year? All I can say is that good luck with the early LINES (and to think that picture was cut, making the line even LONGER)!! I wish there was a floo powder system too or at least even a broomstick system! Too bad there’s no technology for that yet XD

I’VE FINALLY WATCHED FRIGGING TOY STORY 3!
I’m a Pixar baby through and through and I can recite all the films in chronological order and even directors to what films and also some trivia about them though I’ve still got a LOT to learn. So watching Toy Story is a treat! Toy Story isn’t exactly my favorite Disney or Pixar film but as a franchise, it’s the best there is! Check out the rottentomatoes link above and you’ll see all 3 Toy Storys with 100% rating each (except for Toy Story 3 at 99% because some douchebags “critics – 2 of them actually – like Armond White gave it a rotten rating. I swear that guy is insane because he also rottened Up, An Education while freshed Jonah Hex and then compared Transformers 2 to Toy Story 3…. you get the idea of my hate) and they frigging DESERVE IT. Toy Story 3 was such a compelling and moving film. I didn’t know that a franchise could build up to become better and better. We didn’t get this feeling watching Star Wars. Heck we didn’t even get this feeling in 99% of the trilogies (well am biased to my Lord of the Rings fandom so I say it’s equal to that) but Toy Story stands out.

Its marketing strategy calls it the GREAT ESCAPE but it’s more than that. It’s about moving on, dealing with friendship, growing up, making more friends and living on. It incorporates good humor and some slapstick comedy too but that’s what adds the charm to it. It was just too bad that some new toys were only given a few screen time. I would have loved to know more about the toys in Sunnydale. Ken and Barbie are HILARIOUS and you’ll be missing a few characters too.

All I can say is that you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. I had super high expectations from this and again Pixar has exceeded the bar they set up. Unlike The Karate Kid remake (Kung Fu Kid) which was also awesome, I had super low expectations so going over the bar was of no problem. But Toy Story is another class of its own. There are flaws, some things that you may not like but that’s probably only 0.001% of the film. Mr. Potato Head by the way creates one of the most hilarious moments in CINEMA HISTORY. Okay that’s pushing it but it’s just me. I’d watch this film again and again.

OH!! 3D does nothing for it by the way. I suggest watching it in 2D where you can watch in peace. Watch Step Up 3 in 3D but NOT TOY STORY 3. Save yourselves some few bucks. The trailers had more use of 3D. And Woody and Buzz will be appearing in a short right before Cars 2 next year! We’ll still see them!

I don’t even want to comment about this anymore. I really don’t know what to expect. I remember watching smurfs and playing it on the video game and I can’t imagine them having a plot where they actually go to the REAL WORLD. And it doesn’t help that Neil Patrick Harris will be voicing one of the leads. How about you guys? What are your thoughts? I’m just… uh another popcorn flick?

Have you guys watched Katy Perry’s California Gurls official music video? It’s… um.. unusual and doesn’t really portray California (just a lot of girls and skin XD) at all but you’re in Candyland. So is that a metaphor of California? O_O Howell.

I definitely loved this parody video better though because maybe… I’m a nerd, a geek (am not sure if dork is the right term for the people he’s mentioning in the video) or whatever so it’s definitely a music video you can “get”. haha! Anyway I really liked it! I’d love to make a parody of something too.

CRAP.

I’ve really disregarded my blogging friends… I’ve let you all down for not visiting you guys… I AM SO SORRY!!! I am really forced to take a hiatus because I am in a major PICKLE RIGHT NOW! No make that, I’m in a HUGE WATERMELON RIGHT NOW (or gourd or whatever big fruit you can think of). I’ve got only a month and a half left of school and I’m hanging by a thread in the dean’s list this semester because it’s so darn hard. I don’t want to talk about academics anymore and I don’t really want a hiatus. So now am not sure what to post about either because my mind is such a mess. I want to share a lot of things though… maybe I’ll just treat this month and a half as tumblr posts. I’ll only post little snippets and blog posts but I won’t be able to return comments at once. Maybe I’ll reply in a week or two so please forgive me!

Maybe I’ll just talk about my very unique birthday last week. I celebrated the night before with my best friends and then I was left alone inside the house. My mother went to Cebu to attend a dog show, my dad went to Baguio because of a meeting so there they actually gave me freedom on my 20th birthday. To tell you the truth, it wasn’t much fun really because I really was alone so i woke up to my birthday alone. Maybe it’s a foreshadowing and a preparation because I will be leaving my family for 4 months and this will give me courage and independence. I was glad that I had 5 doggies with me in the room though. I then attended my organization’s formation seminar and actually is the first time I really went out with people aside from my family on my birthday. I didn’t want a fuss so I was uncomfortable spending it with friends because I was used to spending my birthday with my family (my birthday usually doesn’t coincide with school classes so there :D). But this was a new experience, it was fun to be around people! I was actually piggy-backed for almost 5 MINUTES! man I won’t explain why but all I can say, it hurt for the both of us XD (guy carrying me and myself XD)

I’m so glad too that our balikbayan box from the US (it took 45 days of shipping time!) finally arrived! I got my Sandman#8-10 and Fables#1-3 graphic novels and I really can’t wait to read them all!! hahahaa Other stuffs were bought by mum and her friends so shipping fee wasn’t that expensive.

OH AND I FORGOT! I finally have pictures of my netbook with the gelaskins I ordered! I’ll be selling the other two. XD hahaa I do need money for my France trip!

To those who read my PHILIPPINE ELECTIONS 2010: Food For Thought post, thank you very much! I’d appreciate it if you guys still read it, TOMORROW IS FINALLY THE ELECTIONS! For those undecided, you still have a few hours until you decide. Research well!

And for those asking if I bought the insanely expensive Rosetta Stone, think carefully when I said *cough cough**pirated** cough cough*. It’s not exactly a good thing but I can’t afford the original one T_T Sighs… If I only had money, everything I own would be original but no can do…

Okay so that was initially the introduction of my “latest entry” but I backed out and I went on hiatus and I’ll be actually going on another hiatus next week because of long exams and midterms. This semester is darn hard and I am trying to really fix it up. I’m so glad History 165 (Philippine History) is over because it’s the subject that tortured my soul out during summer class. It ate up all my free time and urgh, I’m just so happy that everything’s over and done with. I’m so glad that I actually edited a video again and it came out pretty good. That video saved me from my quizzes. Was able to scrape a B+ but an A would have been good… Should have done better in my midterms darn!

Now my only problems are Philosophy (it’s actually my favorite subject now despite all the headaches I’m getting from it. It really opens you up to a new way of thinking. I’d recommend anybody to take it up if it’s not in your core curriculum. Just get a good professor, one of the most important parts in class-picking XD), Software Engineering and Computer Organization. Computer Organization is kinda darn difficult but hopefully I’d manage!

I didn’t make an outline or list-of-things-to-blog-about again for this post so pardon me if my post is all over the place. xD I’m so grateful that you guys are really still visiting especially hello to my new blogger pals! I’ve been getting an alarmingly amount of AD-SPAM comments. Have you ever gotten those comments that suddenly talk about home loans or anything? Sorry those who try to advertise on my blog by COMMENTING, it’s just so weird to be getting those… I delete them right away XD

So I’ve had more free time this week so I was able to finish a new series (and it’s my new love, way better than Glee in my opinion :P) called Community. It’s about this lawyer who has to retake a 4-year college degree because of some problems with his previous degree so he decided to take the easy way out by attending the Community College of his friend, a psychology professor, but after trying to woo the first hot girl he sees, he suddenly “forms” a study group and then all hell breaks loose! This show introduces a new favorite character of mine who I’d like to call the next “Sheldon”. If you watch The Big Bang Theory then Abed of Community will definitely remind you of him but in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MANNER. Watch below if you want to watch a preview! I swear you have to watch this!

It’s so sad that most series have already released their season finale this week It’s so darn sad especially when it’s summer here and then you’d have to wait for a long time (November right?) for a new season. Darn! Good thing am now starting with True Blood and Flash Forward. Maybe finish the seasons of House and Ugly Betty too once I have enough time. Howell….

I’ve progressed a lot with my project 50 leaves and I’ve read 12 books already! WOOT! (okay so 4 of them are graphic novels… XD it’s still a form of a book :D) Am now reading my 13th one and hopefully I can finish it this weekend OR next next week Anybody with a Shelfari account? Add me pls? My project filmography is down in the dumps though.. I haven’t watched a movie in a while…

I FINALLY BOUGHT A NETBOOK GUYS!! Remember my predicament in the past regarding netbooks and how I wanted to so much for a Disney netbook? Well it never happened but I was able to get an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA for just 14,500php!! Woot! Upgraded memory (RAM) and all so it’s just 16,500php. A bargain if I should say since most netbooks here start at 19,000 I even bought Gelaskins for my netbook (still has no name ) and got 1 free since my friend and I availed the buy 3 get 1 free promo. Haha Will share it all once it arrives

My birthday’s coming up next week and I’m just not feeling it again. I’m going to our organization’s formsem (a weekend activity to get to know the new executive board and managers) on my birthday and I just don’t want to go to any activities on my birthday… I don’t like big celebrations since I’m more of a solitary person and I just want to celebrate it with either family or close friends. This is the reason why I chose to not tell my blockmates that it was my birthday on our first meeting (in our freshman’s orientation activity). XD What can I say, I’m a boring person and I don’t want people to fuss XD

P.S. CRYSTAL BOWERSOX IS STILL MY AMERICAN IDOL! I was right in not watching most of the Top12 in this season. I’ve watched my original bet for Top 2 and that’s all that matters. I do like Lee, he’s my favorite in the guys but… COME ON CRYSTAL IS WAY BETTER.

If you’ve been reading the newspapers, you know that Noynoy is already the so-called #1 guy in the survey. He’s a sure win so they say. With his parents’ legacy under his wing, he’ll be able to take flight and box out corruption. How he’ll do that, I don’t know. Will he interrogate each and every “corrupt” official that he chooses?

#2 bet is Manny Villar, the king of all political advertisements with street children in tow, they sing the lyrics of his Cinderella story: from swimming in garbage, he was able to rise and become one of the country’s richest men. Do you want a businessman to rule our country?

#3 Ex-convict movie-star turned politican Erap is close behind Villar (AGAIN SO THE “SURVEYS” SAY). I don’t want to talk about this anymore actually, just read those 4 words OUT LOUD.

I read somewhere in the Philippine Star that world news isn’t even doing a coverage of our elections because of the…. INSIGNIFICANCE of it. And now when an international company just shared some views on it, not too good either.

Candidates in the Philippines are skilled at exploiting what development economists call poverty porn. They’re great at shanty-town photo opportunities and promising prosperity. A fresh sense of betrayal sets in as leaders return to the business of enriching their cronies or doing little.

Investors Beware

No one can say Aquino or Villar will fit this pattern. I strongly hope the Philippines’ next leader doesn’t. The track record is bad, though, and investors should be wary.

The big concern is competence. Aquino’s family name — he’s the son of beloved former leader Corazon Aquino — doesn’t ensure he’ll be a capable reformer. Villar says his rags-to- riches life story makes him the best candidate to right the economy. Estrada thinks he was unfairly ousted in 2001 and that he’s ready to save the day.

Why, it must be asked, is a nation with so much potential turning to a group of untested men to repair its long-neglected economy? That’s a question investors should be asking early and often as the Philippines heads into a potentially market-shaking election.

The results are one big worry; the process is another.

Filipinos are abuzz with conspiracy theories about the more than 80,000 automated machines that they’ll use to pick their next president. Will the election be stolen electronically?

National Paranoia?

In a recent interview, Aquino said that “if we have a correct counting of the votes I think we will be very victorious.” If not, and “the people’s will is frustrated,” he added, demonstrations could make recent protests in Thailand seem “mild” by comparison.

What a breathtaking comment. It seems as if the election favorite is saying that if he loses it will be because of fraud and the nation’s 100 million people should revolt. Such risks help explain why Standard & Poor’s rates the Philippines’s foreign-currency debt three levels below investment grade.

The Philippines frustrates me. I absolutely love visiting the place, and its vast potential dates back decades when it was tipped to be the Japan of Southeast Asia. It’s got ample natural resources, a rapidly growing, largely English-speaking population and a physical beauty that borders on the otherworldly. It’s well positioned geographically to harness Asia’s rapid growth.

It kinda embarrasses me a little… really now… but i BELIEVE IN THE PHILIPPINES. She still has some hope. THE OTHER CANDIDATE. I believe in just one candidate and I am blatantly putting him as my top choice and that’s no other than Gilbert Teodoro “GIBO”! For me he is the more humble of all and the guy with the coolest calm. He’s experienced and intelligent at that too and doesn’t make empty promises at all. He keeps a GREAT platform and always gives the best answers in debates.

He sounds GREAT right guys? But most people aren’t voting for him because of “oh, he’s part of LAKAS, you know, Gloria’s (our unpopular current president) lapdog. Surely under him, we’re going to get GMA as prime minister” but guys please think, Gibo isn’t just a PUPPET (umm… question on this dude’s sharing 80% work with the vice president), he has a mind of his own for crying out loud. He just won’t do this. He just won’t.

I can’t explain his platforms or background enough so I’ll refer you to this article instead that is written responsibly. It probably won’t convince you but just read on. Here’s an excerpt:

As NDCC Chair, everyone was furious with Gibo, whether it was his fault or not. My sister, Information and Networking Coordinator at the Asia Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) replied to my rants, putting to rest many of my own misconceptions about disaster preparedness and risk management.

One thing I noticed early on about Gibo that earned my grudging respect was that he never made excuses for whatever shortcomings he had in handling Ondoy. In our country where blame is the name of the game, Gibo never lashed back at his detractors in typical defensive fashion. He didn’t make excuses. He didn’t say “Boo hoo, look at me. It’s not my fault.” He quietly did his job. In a later interview with Al Jazeera, Gibo did not let the reporter bully or provoke him about Ondoy, answering his questions fully and emphasizing that the country’s response to the disaster met international standards – including the UN. The Maguindanao Massacre in late November should have been another crushing blow to the aspirant. “What did he do to stop the Ampatuans?” many have asked. Gibo answered this in ANC’s Tapatan – as DND, the Ampatuans did not receive more than they were allowed, and Gibo rendered a proper accounting of this, but he quietly added that the DND has no control over the ‘discretionary’ issuances of guns and ammunition to CVOs directly from the Office of the President.

It must be noted that it was Gibo who was the first to act decisively and demonstrate his outrage at what happened – he caused the expulsion of the Ampatuans from the party and he personally accompanied Mangudadatu to file his certificate of candidacy, together with his friend and former party President Sarangani Gov. Migs Dominguez. Gibo has earned the respect of Muslim groups, as articulated by Amina Rasul-Bernardo (director of the Philippine Council on Islam and Democracy) herself.

It’s so easy to engage in negative campaigning, to dish out creative insults and to point fingers, say mean things to other supporters. What about your self-respect and how can you admire or believe in your candidate who does it himself?

A Presidential candidate who not only tolerates mudslinging but practices it is not worthy of respect. How will he even lead the country?

A candidate who respects himself also earns the respect and pride of his supporters. A candidate who keeps the campaign clean and principled is admired by allies and opponents alike. We Gibo supporters and believers wear that distinction like a medal, because no one else can claim that – and believe me, it’s harder to actually practice integrity than just talk about it.

Gibo has proven himself in my opinion and earned my respect. With this kind of attitude, Gibo certainly shows great promise in being a strong leader, but the one that sealed the deal is his quote, quoted by the same author in the article. I remember my History professor explaining what a TRUE LEADER IS. True leadership isn’t all about bossing about your constituents and doing a good job, it’s all about creating a legacy, of maintaining this TRUE LEADERSHIP. Gibo apparently shares the same sentiments as I quote

“I believe the country, more important than needing a strong leader, needs strong leadership. This is the difference between what I perceive to be contemporary viewpoints, the failure to distinguish between the person and the institution. Oftentimes, strong leadership is built around an individual and stays that way, while I believe in creating lasting institutions with the clear position that my participation will be temporary.”

I am really not for NOYNOY, there I’ve said it out loud. Noynoy supporters, please please… tell me why you’re voting for Noynoy because I have 12 reasons (that someone has very clearly shown) why I’M NOT gonna vote for Noynoy. Refer to this article for complete reasons. Here’s an excerpt. Okay I have decided to remove the excerpts and just let you guys read and judge the article for yourself. Noynoy supporters, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME. I have yet to see a blog where they’re defending Noynoy. Or at least show me a blog post or article or whatever. I have just read Philippine Star today (which is BIASED TO NOYNOY as I noticed the past week) but at least some contributors are not. There are already 2 articles that support Gibo and one mentioned meeting him 2 years ago at this investors’ meeting (foreign investors were there to actually remove their investments from the Phils) and you know what happened? Gibo was actually able to talk them out of it. That’s 10,000 jobs and families SAVED. So again Noynoy supporters, show me what he’s done.

Yey am so glad that everyone enjoyed the egg house in the last post! You guys are awesome you know? For telling me it’s okay to update only once a week or when I only feel like it… but I do have this urge of blogging every after 4 days and it pains me I can’t do it. I’ve now got a midterm and long exam next week and I really can’t wait until History (Philippine History & Rizal) IS OVER! It’s ruining my life!

So if I said I talked to a friend or have a strange opinion, it’s not me. It’s just the ingenuity or lack thereof that’s acting there, so hopefully I didn’t offend anyone here…

I’ve been studiously learning French with Rosetta Stone *cough cough* and I just bought Berlitz’s Phrase Book and Dictionary as my friend Cheryl suggested. I would really recommend it because it has tips on pronunciation and categorized in particular situations such as shopping etc! Rosetta Stone is AWESOME too because it’s really VERY INTERACTIVE. Heck they don’t even have translations! They’ll only show pictures and their corresponding French word and now it’s up to you to remember and associate them. Rosetta Stone aims to boost your intuition and I’d recommend it for ANY LANGUAGE. I’m planning to get *cough cough* one for Spanish, Korean and Japanese again sometime. Maybe German too.

Again nothing is going on with my life except my friends and I just ate a GODZILLA BURRITO (it was around 2.5kg!!) and we finally watched IRONMAN 2!! *Robert Downey Jr. HOTNESS!! Scarlett Johansson HOTNESS ZOMG!!!* I just fainted I think.... XD Ironman 2 ROCKED the whole theatre but... I don't know... I felt something missing... but RDJ DID SUPERB AS USUAL ahahhaa!!

Nothing happened again this week… I mean we just built a paper tower during Software Engineering class (it’s for team building! Our prof says! and it patterns the management system of projects and stuff) and I found this idea on the net of using the accordion style for great balance but it was very vulnerable to the wind. Good thing it rained and we built in down the steps so that we’d escape the harsh winds! Man did you know that that day was probably the first time it rained after weeks of drought? GAWD!

Aww crap, after looking at my horrible sched in my last post, I knew that I couldn’t (but I WILL STILL TRY!) post every other 4 days like I used to. I can’t even blogskip or return comments as usual huhuhu… urgh the PRESSURE! I was able to go out with my best buds yesterday and commuted all over the place! Also finally went to Enderun Colleges (they had such a SCRUMPTIOUS MEAL!! MY GOSH O_O and it’ll definitely make you feel REALLY full. It’s not a culinary arts or hotel administration school for nothing!) to visit Danelle who studies there. I missed these gals!

My brother is in Perth, Australia already by the way! He’s experiencing 10 degree weather while we’re boiling here at 36 degrees. Luuckky him! T_T Funny instance in his stopover at Malaysia, he guided an Iranian family to their flight XD Man it was weird that they approached him, bro went all paranoid XD He’s enjoying so far and starts work tomorrow!

Urgh because of the lack of stories and anything new, I’d just post this nifty EGG-HOUSE that my mum e-mailed me (she e-mails me a LOT OF things. She’s the mum who’s always on facebook XD lOL) and I thought, hey I’d want this as a portable house. Just add some wheels and it’s A OKAY. It’s way more creative than your typical trailer park right? HAHAHHAA XD What do you think? And you could probably scare your neighbors that you’re an alien from outer space or something. I COME IN PEACE IN DA FORM OF AN EGG.

This house looking like a hard boiled egg is made by the Belgian architectural firm “dmvA”. It was actually meant to be a an extension for the “Xfactoragencies” office, but was rejected several times by local building regulations, so instead “dmvA” made a mobile office that didn’t look anything like the old “Xfactoragencies” offices.

The whole “egg house” is made of polyester, and it took 18 months to build it. Inside you can find a bathroom, a kitchen, interior lighting, a bed and several niches for storage, and like that wasn’t enough the nose can be opened automatically and is serving as a kind of porch. It can also be used as an office, guestroom or garden house

Awesome isn’t it? Anyway I’m pooped, sleepy and I still have to read “What Is Philosophy” and understand that being is in Being so being is Being. Yes indeedy! OH I MADE A SHORT(EST) video but it’s NOT the surprise, it’s completely random. PLEASE WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK.

So I’ve been missing for about 6 days? Not responding to any of you *a liiee!! I have your blog tabs open right now! Just… i haven’t read them yet TEEHEEE* and why is that? Well same reason as Nigahiga’s reason here *WATCH IT!*

Okay I was KIDDING there. But if you didn’t watch the video, then you’d have no idea what I’m talking about. Nigahiga actually reminds me of someone I knooooww and z XD if I’m going to make a youtube video, then maybe it’ll sound as wacky as his. I don’t know… Those who’ve watched my previous vlogs should know! I tried to do the “surprise” video but my experiment FAILED MISERABLY yesterday so… it’s still a work in progress. You’ll all probably hit me in the head when you see it and go “This is ALL that she’s worked weeks for? TOTAL CRAP!” (hope you guys don’t say it though…)

Gashh but things are just about to get worse. Add to my heavy heavy History load (but of course no match to the load of Law/Medicine majors :D), I’d be getting late afternoon classes. I would really like to tackle culture and environment and money in today’s post. It’s about time to have another one of those posts with tips to help you guys save money. Usually all I post all about the environment and maybe you’ve all read my food rant in the previous posts so now i’ll take a different direction and head on to the other green thing we’re all obsessed about. We need help and sometimes even professional help when dealing with money because face it, it’s the thing that makes the world go round. Throw in a little love but basically it’s the green stuff that ALMOST DETERMINES EVERYTHING. So I’m going to help you guys save a little with this tip

Tip for the day would be… TO CHANGE FONTS WHEN PRINTING. Yes you, dear reader shouldn’t be too ink-happy when printing because not only will it save you ink, it would probably be able to help you save a few dollah dollah bills too since ink is REALLY EXPENSIVE. So according to yahoo news,

The school of 6,500 students spends about $100,000 per year on ink and toner cartridges. Although students and staff can change the default font to something more ink-intensive, Blohowiak said the university expects to save $5,000 to $10,000 per year with the font switch.

When Printer.com tested popular fonts for their ink-friendly ways, Century Gothic and Times New Roman topped the list. Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif were next, followed by Trebuchet, Tahoma and Franklin Gothic Medium. Century Gothic uses about 30 percent less ink than Arial.

The amount of ink a font drains is mainly driven by the thickness of its lines. A font with “narrow” or “light” in its name is usually better than its “bold” or “black” counterpart, said Thom Brown, an ink researcher at Hewlett-Packard Co., the world’s top maker of printers.

Also, serif fonts — those with short horizontal lines at the top and bottom of characters — tend to use thinner lines and thus less ink than a “sans serif” counterpart.

NOTE READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE. This doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll completely save the environment because it’s really the number of paper we try to save that really counts.

As for culture, I’ve found this nifty video that talks about Japan. For me this isn’t really racist though the video does make use of humor and exaggeration to explain its point, and that’s the strangeness and wonder of Japan. This video is made by a Japanese so I guess it’s really not racist. I was just very amused and it’ll take 10 minutes of your life but it’s a good 10 minutes. Kudos to the guy who made this! Graphics are awesome!

I also love exploring old houses and museums (I just went to the Ayala Museum and it’s AWESOME! over 1000 gold pieces of our ancestors and they have an awesome diorama of the WHOLE history of the Philippines (around 2000 years ago? kinda forgot)) and I came from my childhood home, my grandparents’ house, yesterday and found A SHOCKING FIND!! My grandparents’ actually have a collection of the writings of GREAT MASTERS OF LITERATURE AND PHILOSOPHY OUT THERE! Man they probably had this collection around the 1960s. I always knew that there was a set of books on top of that shelf as a kid but I didn’t bother looking at it until now XD

This will be EXTREMELY useful for my philosophy and maybe theology classes because heck, we even have the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine! I didn’t even need to go buy books of Shakespeare because I had them all in 2 books. Plus reading Plutarch would have been great for my Western History class. Man… the things you find… I took pics of my grandparents’ house too but I didn’t want to upload them… maybe next time hhehehee

I have to go all nerd mode and read a TON of readings. Once I get them, I’ll show you a picture of it. I was so excited at first when I found out that I was going to take History 165: Rizal under Ambeth Ocampo (he’s a famous historian and has a column in the Philippine Daily Inquirer) and I’ve been getting good reviews of his class and how fun and whacked out his tests and classes are (imagine, one question in his test: Recount the Battle of Mactan in a FISH’S point of view. Guess who got an A? The guy who answered GLUB GLUB GLUB GLUB GLUB back to back) or maybe Ma’am Espena who gives out CRAZY bonus points despite tough long exams. Well instead, 2 days before summer classes, we were informed that we would be taking Ma’am Garilao’s class! And to my horror my brother laughed at me and told me that I was DOOMED. DOOMED BECAUSE OF THE MT. EVEREST-SIZED READINGS. I was already feeling so bad but I still had hope. Maybe I can still transfer sections but it turns out that all their classes were full. And today, just the 2nd day of summer classes, I have already read 12 chapters of Noli Me Tangere (in English) and read the first reading. I have 3 inches of readings AND THAT’S JUST THE HALF OF IT. I wanted to tell ma’am, WE AREN’T LAWYERS! We’re not supposed to read this much IN A MONTH!

But of course we must strive for greatness, MAGIS as Ateneans would say. We have to be MORE and maybe I just might survive her class. I’m determined to finish at least more than 1/4 of her readings this week because I have 4 MORE CLASSES NEXT WEEK. 3 Computer subjects plus PHILOSOPHY which has a TON OF READINGS (i think?) too. Howell, I must concentrate on that POT OF GOLD at the end of the rainbow!

Hopefully you know, after all this hard work, after college, I’ll be part of something big. Like this guy who created a DIGITAL PERSONAL ASSISTANT like the one you see in Ironman (I CAN’T WAIT FOR IRONMAN 2! RDJ!! ). Crap, he can even talk, text and interact with Jarvis. Jarvis even reminds him of things he has to do and tracks the occupants of his apartment (including the dogXD). How...COOL....IS....THAT??!

Imagine the possibilities of his creation, would there soon be a Jarvis PA that will be sold to consumers sometime in the near future (like in 10 years? I think it’s possible!)? What would you like your Digital Personal Assistant to do? Check his youtube channel for more updates!

To calm myself down, I’d usually listen to classical music. Classical music is probably my favorite genre because… I don’t know… it’s sort of an escape from our worries and stresses in the world. The notes, the melody and the tone… it would soothe your soul and it doesn’t matter if you can’t sing… i mean just go on with the melody… I don’t know. It really just gets me . When my friend showed me this video of this awesome guy who turns pop music into classicalized popular music. I think what he’s doing is just… AMAZING and I honestly some of these more than the original ones. I’m not that much into electronic sounds so the violin, viola etc all sound more pleasing for me. I’m now into Harmonica too because of Bob Dylan! Anyway guys, I blabber too much, just listen to his version of KE$HA’s Tik Tok
