HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!!

Have I ever mentioned that I love this holiday? Haha and I took this opportune moment to herald the total revamp of my site! I’ve finally updated my rotting pages (heck my bio hasn’t been updated in 2 years!) and fixed some broken links (still open to link exchange!) and also do you notice anything? Anything different at all? Nah you probably don’t…

BUT IF YOU DO……. It’s all thanks to my dearest and most awesome artist friend Liza! Please head on over to her site and give her some loving while you oooh and aah at her other works. I didn’t think a Harry Potter Panda theme was possible but she made it all happen. So what do you think? I decided to shake things up a bit here because I thought that I needed an “identity” and I felt lost amidst all the other blogs there and I needed a look that would scream me.

and (the end of the world OMG haha naah) 2012 is just right around the corner. Honestly for me, 2011 hasn’t been one of my best years. I’ve always thought that Senior Year would have been awesome because of what my friends have gone through but I absolutely feel NO SENTIMENTALITY at all. :/ It’s kinda crazy but I just want 2011 to be over and done with. I may sound like a cruel person (or maybe I am…) but this is just another phase that I will get through. Maybe because 2010 has been so awesome that 2011 is left behind the shadows but I doubt that this is the case. I’ll stick to the reason that I’m just not a sentimental person.

I won’t deny that 2011 has given me a LOT OF FIRSTS. Check out my about me page coz I added a few things there! I’ve started to bake, climbed a mountain, got drunk, blacked out, first time to go to Palawan, first k… okay so a lot of things happened but I seriously can’t wait for 2012 just because I have this bubbling optimism for it. I’m finally, FINALLY going to be able to work and make a difference with my life. I think that’s the biggest step anyone can achieve. To finally be able to plant a flag and say “I DID THIS ON MY OWN AND I CAN SUPPORT MYSELF”. Well to that effect anyway. I want to help my family and myself so much and I think that this is one of the only ways to do it. And really, working entails meeting new people and creating a new life, wherever I may go to. I don’t want to divulge anything yet but I’ve been applying here and there. Let’s just see how it goes.

So my only Christmas wish this year is for everything to fall in place. Vague but it stands true for me. I don’t want any material things (okay who am I kidding, if anyone can give me Steve Jobs’ biography or the Harry Potter Page to Screen book or any of the books in my shelfari, or a book shelf, or a trip to HK, etc. I’D LOVE YOU FOREVER!) so no Christmas lists for this year. Being stable is the most important thing for me now.

In my last post, I blogged about making Butterbeers and here’s one of the recipes I’ve used (Please add whipped cream). There are actually a lot of versions online and I didn’t even get to try this flaming butterbeer (do tell me if you do!) because Schnapps are hell expensive! And so are the other ingredients.

I did get to try butterbeer latte and my friend and I loved this! Better than the Cream Soda one I think but seriously, only drink small amounts because of the buttery-ness! For those who are health conscious… I’m not sure if Butterbeer is the best bet for you

Oh! And for your Christmas movie list, please PLEASE include Les Choristes (The Chorus in French) in your list. It may seem dark and depressing at first but I assure you that you’ll have tears in your eyes. Or at least a few drops! haha! We watched this for our European film class and so far this is the most heartwarming one. Good thing for youtube, the full movie can be seen online! Watch the trailer then hit the spoiler for it

OMG OMG OMG OMG I have somebody new to fangirl about! Although I’m sure not everyone will agree with me on this but please bear with me. Or you can click close on this spoiler. haha!

Wasn’t Pierre Mohrange’s voice DIVINE? Seriously his voice is so angelic and kinda makes you want him to sing you to sleep. I researched about the film more and also the choir that went on tour after this film was released last 2003 and lo and behold, I found out that Jean-Baptiste Maunier, the actor/singer with the awesome voice who played Pierre, is just the same age as moi! 8D Well it was his birthday 2 days ago! It’s so hard to fangirl about him though because there’s hardly anything on him save for a few movies. Even his main site doesn’t look that updated. Oh well, I shall enlist the help of my expert-stalker friend and help me! hahaha! Well here’s an eye candy pic for ya’ll! 8D <3 <3 <3

Is there a Santa Claus? – a physicist view

Consider the following:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn’t (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total – 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that’s 91.8 million homes. One presumes there’s at least one good child in each.

3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75-1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc. This means that Santa’s sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man- made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second – a conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.

4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that ‘flying reindeer’ (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload – not even counting the weight of the sleigh – to 353,430 tons. Again, for comparison – this is four times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance – this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth’s atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force. In conclusion – If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he’s dead now. Say what?..

I haven’t written anything personal for a while… okay maybe I have but I haven’t really blogged because I wanted to just write for the heck of it. I’ve always been writing as if I were in a mission or something lately like that NU Skin Scam (part 2 is coming right up!) and Ensemble E-Travel/Metrodeal Scam but now I just wanna share what’s been going on lately (which isn’t much… i think I’m becoming as useful as a fly… which isn’t really useful more of a pest… *talks more to self* ) through photos! Narration is just too long and I know that everyone’s busier than a bee these days! Also tune in for a GREAT REBRANDING/MAKEOVER of my site!

I’ve also got a new tutorial for Mac users concerning how to use and add subtitles. I’ve done a bit of research and have found a way to play subtitles with MKV files. So if you got a problem with it, check this out.

Ever since becoming a Pottermore beta tester, I’ve been actively participating with Order of the Lions, a Gryffindor order where we share tips and tricks of Pottermore and share other Gryffindor creations. I’m really happy because I found such good friends and we were even able to put up an Unofficialy Daily Prophet. I’ve always hated cooking because one, HOT environment and I always thought that it’s such a waste to prepare something and have it disappear at once. It turns out this selfish notion disappeared because I now feel so worthwhile when somebody says, IT TASTES FANTASTIC!, after having someone eat your cooked meal. Brother and I made Roasted Iberian Chicken, Garbanzos, Yogurt sauce and I think we did well! My brother is a great cook really.

AND NOW ANOTHER DREAM COME TRUE! Whenever I read JK Rowling’s description of butterbeer. I can’t help but IMAGINE tasting it and LOVING IT. And when Halloween came and brother didn’t allow me to cook a Halloween dinner, I then decided to make drinks, Butterbeer Latte (milk version) and Cream Soda version with my friend and BOY did I love making it! For recipes, comment here and I shall show you Next time I’ll be baking cupcakes, another thing to cross off my bucket list. Oh I do love latte version better, especially after leaving it in the fridge for a while. I wish I could have trick or treated though NEXT YEAR I SHALL PREPARE!

I am really jiving with Maroon 5′s This Love now despite the time (man I remember that they became famous around 2004, first year high school! haha) gap because…. I’ve posted late again! Not because of love, but because this week is the HELL week of summer class. It’s the end to put out all the ends and I’m really striving to make it good especially in Japanese now. Japanese is fun as long as you have the time and patience and of course, the gusto to learn! Hai, soudesu!

So the weekend was… kind of extradordinary! You know times that you think were rough but they turned out to be pretty good after all when all has been said and done. I attended my… let’s see, my 6th concert last Saturday evening when the Davids came to town! Cookie was the American Idol last year and Archie was the runner up! Man, I never thought that Archie would be so cute in person! And Cook really knew how to pump up the crowd! It’s just to bad that those that weren’t his fans were visible because some of them just SAT DOWN AND WATCHED. Hello it’s a concert people? You’re supposed to scream and jump and go crazy! haha Too bad we weren’t able to sneak in the meet and greet tent! Arggh! So no pics guys Just gonna share 2 videos that me and my friend took! Sorry for the shaky cam and all. haha It looks like something that came out of Cloverfield.

Went home around 12:30am already and then had to wake up at 5:30 for rifle competition. I’m such a bad member right? lolz! haha well I had fun anyways even though my shots weren’t as good as the others and I finally had some bonding moments with the team! I didn’t go to the range that much last semester due to some conflicts. Rarr! But am making it up for this summer! Have to really train! ehheeh. I loved shooting in the Marines’ range because it’s air-conditioned and it was a particularly BLASTED HOT DAY. Thank the Lord!

Haha to all those who saw my tag in my last post and asked about why we took care of soo many animals… well i’ve just got one answer and that’s LOVE! Haha seriously, I mean would you take care of that much animals if you didn’t at least love them? Well it turns out that loving too much is too hard too since you keep on parting ways with them. This is the reason why we’ve cut it down to 3 birds, 1 parrot, 2 cats, 11 dogs and 5 puppies and a fish now. I miss my old pets… We’re breeders too by the way especially on golden retrievers, shih tzus and poodles. I’ll be actually putting up an online shop just NOT SURE WHEN. Have to see have to see Click here1, here2, here3, here4 of some of the pets we’ve had. No reptiles nor exotic animals here though

Have you ever heard of fredflare? I first heard this from my good friend Danwei of Cornyness shop (do visit her! She has the cutest earrings in the world!) because she was actually featured there! And then I saw these adorable PANDA UPSIDE DOWN MUG!! It would have been loads better if it were upright since you can’t see the Panda properly without letting it stand upside down. There are other animals styles too like cats and pigs but of course, the Panda’s got to be the best! hehee

Hey Guys! 19 comments in last post! I think that’s a record here in my site especially since I didn’t reply (yet) to all and I don’t think I was getting this much traffic in my old blog. I hope that my old blogging sisters would come back though I miss you all terribly!

I’ll be bloghopping later and return comments and also comment on your post. I think it’s just wonderful how blogs can be mediums to share thoughts or just about absolutely anything. People have been wondering why bloggers would dare bare what used to be so hidden. How can one person post a “diary” when diaries were supposed to be made secret? My explanation for that is a blog IS personal but only to some extent. I don’t want to share most of my personal problems here because I don’t think it would be helpful much. Chaos and confusion and misunderstandings would just probably occur so that’s why if you’re looking for a fight in this blog, then KEEP OUT. Gosh I really hate misunderstandings. This is why I don’t like getting angry but if I do get angry, it’ll be more than just a ROAR.

So this blog would be a place of sharing information and ideas. It’s like one big biodiversity (jungle) here where you’ll be able to see tons of pandas and movies and such. So thank you bloghoppers (especially Chiui for being the TOP commenter!) for coming and sharing! Cliffhanger last post QUITE LONG BEWARE ▼

I was a bit saddened that no one noticed my cliffhanger last post *i’ll never make another cliffhanger post again! Stomps feet like a child* haha kidding! But still who here has watched Star Trek?

Well I heard about it loads of times especially on the movie blogs I frequent (plugs plugs them in Links) and TheMovieBlog even gave it a 9/10! Even though I don’t agree with the author most of the times, I knew that giving this a higher rating than The Dark Knight was INSANE and I love insane things so I watched it without a clue on the plot or characters. I also wanted to know who the heck Spock and Captain Kirk was.

Well I didn’t regret walking through the cinema gates blindly and even dragging my whole family to watch it. Mum and dad even at first just wanted t stroll around the mall coz they didn’t Star Trek was their “thing” but thankfully, they watched it anyways! For those who were in the dark like me, here’s a general view from TheMovieBlog and I quote,

The basic synopsis for Star Trek looks something like this: �From the first scene, the Star Trek universe as we knew it has changed forever. Kirk is now an angry wayward young man looking for trouble. He fights with Starfleet cadets in Iowa when a Capt. Pike takes an interest in him, finding out he�s the only �genius level repeat offender in the Midwest�. Pike dares Kirk to join Starfleet, goading him with the legacy of his father. A young Spock is tortured over his mixed heritage, the emotions he fights to control and the very different paths he has before him. He must choose between the Vulcan world which will never accept him as anything other than �half human� and Starfleet Academy, worlds away from everything he has ever known.

We meet Dr �Bones� McCoy and a young linguist Uhura at the Academy and watch as a headstrong Kirk wreaks havoc on Starfleet�s rules and regulations. Kirk�s antics culminate in his reprogramming the famous Kobayashi Maru test and consequent disciplinary hearing. He comes face to face with the scenario creator, Mr. Spock. As this unfolds; a vicious Romulan from the future is hell bent on vengeance upon �Ambassador� Spock and nothing will get in his way. The fleet is called to arms as peril aims at the heart of the Federation and Kirk and Spock are irrevocably pulled together to save the galaxy – for the first time�.

Think of Star Wars and you sort of get the same plot but what made Star Trek stand out was the humor inside the movie. There were actually a lot of comedic parts that you’ll never get bored even halfway through the movie. The characters also are very engaging *they weren’t stiff!* and animated. The action scenes were superb and didn’t dhttp://jynxedpanda.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=105isappoint. It was a movie that had story, characters, effects all rolled into one and I had a jolly good time with it! I especially loved Spock’s backstory and now I’m a Spock Trekkie. Is there such a thing? Zachary Quinto did an AMAZING job as Spock. I now love Spock. It’s official! *blushes*

But I don’t know… it’s not a 9/10 for me because of two things. Captain James Kirk’s lack of backstory. Or I don’t know. I didn’t get him much because I wanted to delve more into his psyche. All I got was a chockful of Spock (he is indeed drool-worthy) but I wanted to like Kirk too. And since this is already the 21st century, some of the “science” just wasn’t believable. Roger Ebert did say in his review (he only gave Star Trek a 2.5/5!! WHAT??!) and I agree that there were some illogical concepts in Star Trek. I mean their FIGHT SCENES. Why use HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT/SWORDS when they already have the technology of SPACE/TIME WARP and Star fleets and Teleportation? Weird weird weird. And the villain Eric Bana? Uh… forgettable.

So I give Star Trek a 8/10. I thoroughly and honestly enjoyed the movie, nay LOVED THE MOVIE.. I would have wanted a bigger piece of James Kirk (okay this sounds wrong) and more villain-worthy fights but over-all. I loved it. It’s not perfect but howell… You get the point.

Well on to more happy things! My panda features (category is All About Pandas) has its first story now! My old online friends would know that I am a bag-a-holic. I love loovvee bags especially those of different colors so I’m collecting bags in different shades (different designs though). Too bad I can’t afford any designer bags like Louis Vuitton (well my mum used to buy before their prices skyrocketed to oblivion), Hermes, Prada, Bali (i super love mum’s old Bali bag!) so I just resort to drooling on the glass windows/online site–I mean–window shopping. And I just came across this….

Your thoughts? I love/hate the Panda. I mean on a CLASSIC LV? That really doesn’t look good to me. You can’t just slab a colorful panda and get away with it you know Takashi Murakami. I don’t know… it’s suitable on a different kind of bag but the classic… nah! Don’t you just love the other designs though like the AWESOME LV store in Japan designed by Murakami himself! *hyperventilates at Panda-awesomeness* Now one more reason to go to Japan! haha. I do love the colors though it can be distracting a few times but the flower ball, the Panda BIG-ASS plushie! :(( When can I get one? NEVER. *cries cries and hints that birthday is just a month away*

On a more personal note, I just received my FIRST PAY yesterday! I was a teacher-assistant at the Chinese department of Ateneo and I had to practice the intonation, pronunciation and character identification of my four students who would become Chinese teachers in the provinces. It was a very rewarding experience because I actually had fun teaching. It was quite intimidating though because my students were all in their mid30s to 40s and I was just 18 @_@. Gorsh I was able to pull it through and I got paid 3600php! It’s not much but it’s okay for 9 days right? haha. Would love to teach again if given the opportunity

I’m also competing in my first MAJOR event as a rifle varsity member! I’m part of Ateneo’s Rifle and Pistol Team and I’ll be using my handy dandy number 4 Air-rifle. It’s quite a big event I think because it would be held at the Marines and I’M NERVOUS. I’m really the weakest link in the rifle team because I wasn’t able to practice much last 2nd semester. Hopefully I’ll be able to do good…

I’ve been dwelling on this problem since day one but wordpress support was giving no solutions until I googled this blog. Thank you so much! I’ve also added some nifty new pages (well not that nifty… no visitors page yet! I still have to calculate and solve the probability of the number of users who will view the page, etc… okay i’m kidding:D) like the Mini-Bio and History pages in the About me section up there *click it if you guys wanna go :D* More updates will happen in the coming weeks so just stay tuned for updates! hehee Am now currently working on the comment limit shown, custom smilies and commenter’s plug in each post (does anybody know the plugin for this? hehe will be searchinngg.. :D)

I’ve also visited new friends such as Sofie! I’m very glad to have visited ya and thanks for exchanging links with me. From now on though, all those requesting for link exhanges would have to message me using the contact form here. The tagboard will just be a snippet of messages that you want to share and announce.

Speaking of Sofie, she has this nifty meme of listing down the top 5 places in the world that you are dying to visit. My dream is no doubt to travel the whole world before I become so frail and old that I can’t even run anymore. I mean they keep on saying, work hard now and have fun later or reap your harvest when you’ve finally retired at 70 ot 60 but come on, would you still appreciate the Eiffel tower or the Great Wall of China when you can’t climb them anymore? *Even if you’re a strong 70 year old* So goal is to at least visit these 5 places before 70.

As an avid bloghopper, I’ve discovered many cool things through the net. I was actually itching to blog about these during my hiatus but my blogging mojo wasn’t present. Now that I think I’ve found it, I’d like to share more about a similar “talent competition” like American Idol but it’s actually worth watching to those who despise AI. haha. Heard of Susan Boyle? Yah you got that right, I’m talking about BGT (Britain’s Got Talent)

Anyway here’s Susan Boyle. Man, have you ever heard such intense emotions in the song? I know everyone’s tired of talking about her but she’s just inspirational character. And she has been hiding that BIG VOICE for such a long time! I’m a sucker for broadway musicals, their songs, and classical music so I pardon to those who hate them. I absolutely love them and you can’t change that. hehe. This is the reason why I also played her video for about 30x now since the video appeared. I HOPE SHE WINS!! There’s this Flawless act, a group of dancers, who people think might win too but I was more attached to Susan. So GO GIRL!

Haha who here has twitter/plurk? I guarantee that whoever watches this will suddenly have second thoughts on continuing their account or they might feel a bit of a trouble bug that’s creeping behind their backs. Is plurking/twittering really WORTH your time? hehe. Watch and ponder.

On the contrary my brother even made a twitter account because of this. Beats me why his logic is so different. He says he’s fond of satires so ergo, make a twitter account. lOLZ

One of my other favorite finds this week is this CLOUD SOFA. The instant that this gets out in the market, I’M GONNA BUY IT (depends on the price though)! It has always been my dream to sleep on such puffiness. Have I ever told ya guys that I once dreamed of being locked inside a stuff toy store and sleeping on top of all their toys? Sighs.. really like puffy things. haha How do you get on the Cloud Sofa though? Sighs too bad that this is just a concept design.

So because of my lack vlogs, I wouldn’t deny the pleasure of sharing other gems of a video and post it here. A while back while I was contemplating on getting a blog, I was finding things to plurk and share and I came across these,

Jean-Yves Blondeau aka Rollerman is A NUT!! A good nut at that! I mean this may not only turn out as some crazy new sport, but it could be an EXTREME WORKOUT. Imagine folling down and rolling backwards and… man it takes a lot of balance and muscle coordination! Gooshh…. I would want it even IF I’M PRETTY SCARED to. lolz!

And this is another favorite of mine. One of the best instrumentals I’ve ever heard (and as good as Maksim! Gosh) and this is done by Jone Schmidt! He integrated and mixed Taylor Swift’s addictive Love Story and Coldplay’s awesome Viva La Vida. It’s absolutely LOVELY and I actually played this for about 50x one day. Sighs…

Never fear because my blogger will still be existing because it’s just too precious to let go. It was the 2nd blog that I created on 2004 (I think) and I have come a long way with that blog. I mean we spent almost 5 years together *naks parang ang drama, nagbreak kami pero friends pa rin! lolz* and I will still sustain all my emotions there so if you feel nostalgic for some reason, please visit my old blog! hahaha

It’s the end of a chapter but the beginning of another so I entitled this post as “NEW”. That’s it. So that’s it…..FOR NOW! I don’t know if I still have white rabbits to pull out of my hat but we shall see.

I’m currently taking Japanese as my foreign language this summer at Ateneo (required :() and I’m quite enjoying it! Memorizing the characters and the vocabulary is a pain though! Argh! I still have to go review! Hehe. Something new about me too is that I finally have my first PART-TIME job as a teacher assistant at the Ateneo Chinese department. I’m now teaching future-Chinese teachers in the province! It’s quite a challenge I tell ya because my students are actually quite older than me and I have to project confidence! They’re very accomodating and cool though! hahaa I do like my pay, 400php/hr Not bad for 3 weeks.
